Probably a Windows permissions issue, but given the primary function of a backup drive, the WD software should anticipate this and provide functionality to see and select any folder regardless of annoying Windows file/folder security "features".

Great for personal data

I use it for back up and pics and saving personal info and data. It downloaded so quickly. I am very happy. It is so light. I used a little sticky strip and placed it right on my desktop.

Super fast

I was able to back up large amounts of data in a very short time. The Thunderbolt 3 to USB adapter came in handy right away.

Good alternative to a USB mechanical hard drive

The drive is fine. The software isnt.

But the backup software would not recognize the drive (even though I could write files to the drives it was clearly properly installed. First line tech support was terrible and it took 2 weeks to get a call back from next level tech support. The Second level support did solve the problem.
