After talking to the sales associated we chose the classic black Wd - My Passport Ultra 1tb External Usb 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive. Set-up was a bit more involved than I'd like because the device has issue connecting with the laptop but once installed worked well.

Great portable, fast storage

Luckily I was able to recover all my files from the old one. I had a few hundred GB of data to copy onto this new one. Copy went very fast and was much quicker than what I expected. No issues with this one... yet.

The speeds are as fast as expected and the build quality is solid. Great storage solution for people such as myself with MacBooks that don't have much internal hard drive space.
