I have purchased these in the past and had very good luck so I purchased this for my new Mac. So far I am very happy with it.

I am always asked to share my files from my server, but I don't want to open it up to the world. This is just enough space to share everything I need and it also attaches to my xBox one for extra storage when needed.

Yes, this is a fine product and it helped me to deal with the limited amount of space on my PC, but I had to speak to a representative from Western Digital (WD) and Best Buy's Geek Squad before proceeding with a second backup on my computer. WD offers great support; they will talk to you for hours to help you. My Passport Ultra indicated it did not have enough disk space for the second backup, but it holds 1 TB and my laptop is only 440 GB in size. What happened was there were 2 backups created on my machine. Once I realized that, I was able to delete the unnecessary backup on my disk with no problems. I guess that explains why it took about 4 -6 hours, and I had fallen asleep during the process, LOL. Looking forward to my third backup soon.

I have had several HD drives and they keep getting smaller, less expensive and better. This is the best one yet for the price.

I like that this external hard drive doesn't need to be plugged in to an outlet. I formatted it so it's a streamlined backup.

I have been buying WD drives for a long time and this one was an addition. I had one just like it in blue and needed more space so I gt another in black. Performance is good. Speeds are perfect. I am able to do video editing and run videos and music edits right from the drive with no lags. I would recommend to any friend

W D drives are the most reliable.. Never had an issue with these drives they are all I use for for my extra storage needs...

The WD Passport Ultra was fairly priced and worked as promised. Only thing better would have been if the case was included...

My teenage daughter is extremely happy with this item. She uses it with her laptop.

Purchase as a back up to laptop and so we could save college books to this device. Simple to access and set up. Works great

Received this as a gift after verizon tech support remotely access my phone to store in cloud and lost all my photos and all the content of my phone So it came in handy to avoid anything like that happening again

Easy to use, compact size holds 1TB of data, reliable

I use it for my game systems and computer game when visiting friends and family who play the same games as me, so to avoid having to continually set the games up all the time. It runs great and get the job done.

This was easy to install and set up a backup schedule. It is very lightweight and easy to use. I would recommend this item.

After my former Toshiba external hard drive failed and I had to spend $946.71 to have the data recovered from it, I decided to go back to Western Digital. Each of the various data recovery providers that I contacted, universally stated that Western Digital external hard drives are far easier to recover data from then any of their competitors. I take extremely good care of all my electronics, so I was very disappointed and upset when my Toshiba external hard drive failed without any explanation. The cost to have the data recovered from it was exorbitant, but it had to be done. The failed drive contained too many work related files for me to simply disregard it. The Western Digital drive that this review is about was operational straight out of the box and it was very easy to find an inexpensive aftermarket padded carrying case for it on eBay. Overall, I am quite pleased with my purchase since I was afforded a substantial amount of storage for a reasonable price. In closing, I encourage all that read this to dedicate the time required to backing up your files so that you might avoid my expensive experience noted above.

It was very easy to re-format to use it for time machine. It's much better than my old WD portable hard drive in every way.

This portable works great for what I purchased it for, backup. It transfers data fast, even on my laptop that has USB 2.0

My sons computer was running out of HDD space . Use this like a giant thumb drive.
