By purchasing the product this enables me to use our current lap top for a teaching session.

Recently switched this hard drive between a Mac with an older OS to a newer Mac with OS El Capitan. After using it between the computers, I started having issues with the hard drive and it became read-only and no longer showed up on the computer with the older OS. After reading forums, this is an ongoing issue with many WD passports where you cannot move them from an old OS to El Capitan. Files from the drive were eventually moved to a new external and the old one is no longer usable.

Had an issue installing the drive with a Windows 10 computer, but support at Western Digital helped me make needed changes to settings and it works just fine now.

The backup software that comes with the drive can be better. I have a Seagate at work and the backup runs constantly instead of running on a schedule that WD provides

Still early, but so far so good. Will update if it changes, but happy with the purchase.

The Geek squad was very helpful in recovering data and downloading to an external hard drive

I've owned or used about 6-7 of these drives, and only one has failed. No drop protection here, so be careful. I use the original box to transport or mail these.

I purchased this hard drive after buying my first labtop. Wanted a place to store my music, photos and eventually my gopro videos. So far its been a great buy. Simple to work. Just open up, plug the usb end into computer then other end into hard drive. Turns on and off with my labtop. Transfers my photos and music almost instantly. The size of the hard drive is small and fits perfectly behind my labtop on the desk. Only negative is the cord length is short. About a foot or so. Must buy if looking to back up files. Ordered online and picked up with in the hour in store. Great service from best buy!
