good purchase to replace an older, smaller backup.

I'm still now sure about this purchase at this time. It is good for extra storage and will keep you from having to place photos, documents and other items on your laptop. I'm just so new to this that I have not mastered what is good or bad about it.

This might be a great drive if to begin with it was formatted for Mac and you didn't have to format it. I tried for days and couldn't get it to work. So now I will go back to a seagate that is already formatted. Never again.

I bought as a hard drive for my antenna DVR. Worked fine for about a year, but once it became full, it won't work at all. The DVR can't reformat it, my computer can't reformat it, it's just a shiny blue paper weight now.

If you don't know anything about a external hard drive then it can be confusing. I have a MAC and because the hard drive don't say (for Mac) you will have to format it. Just search on YouTube and you should find it

Don't know how to rate this thing. It's inscrutable. Have no idea how it works or how to use it. No instructions came with it and received no instructions from Geek Squad when it was sold to me for backing up my files.

Currently using for memory expansion for my Xbox one. Works great but has an annoying light that stays on 24/7. Which is fine for people who are going to hide it in a cabinet. But not so much in an open room

I purchased this drive for my daughter who owned a Mac. It wouldn't work until I reformatted the drive to work with it. Had to go online to figure it out because the manual included is not useful.

The geek squad was able to recover the info on my old computer. So it is a great back up now. Reason for three stars the USB cable was way too short and limits where I can place it on my desk......

When a product has no instruction manual, it is hard to recommend to anyone. I have this unit for sometime and am still trying to figure out how to set it up so it can be used the way I want.

Like I said I purchased it at the rim but the associate did not give me the correct one, I told him that it was not the one but he insisted so it had to be returned, no customer service skills....

I returned this device because it was not formatted for Mac. It may be a better product, but I do not know how to format a storage device. This should be clearly labeled to avoid confusion.

Spent way too much time trouble shooting what turned out to be. Bad usb cord. Used an old one and worked right away. Called WD they sent another but blew 4 or 5 hours screwing around.

Had some difficulties getting this to work with newest windows version. In the end after reading various forums stating same issue, I followed ones work around and it solved my problem.

I'm sure the drive is fine, but my wife purchased for a macbook which did not recognize the device. I'm sure there is a work around, but I returned for a drive setup for a Mac.

The guys at Geek Squad recommended that I buy this Hard Drive when my computer was acting up. Stephen was great and professional. Kudos to you sir and the guys at Geek Squad.

The laptop seems good but I just don't like the new operating system. That being said all laptops would give me the same problem. But this is a great laptop for watching videos.

This thing totally died after two weeks in my totally sweet tablo dvr. Shotbot lasted longer than this piece of carp. Getting it replaced by WD because mom said I could.

Had to purchase in a pinch...it did the job but I'm having to go back and have geek squad and apple help me to recover hidden and lost files. Wish I had used seagate

After a frustrating attempt at setting up, I finally called the tech support number. A competent tech person helped me open the passport with a better method.
