This is basic consumer electronics. Some will fail, some will last 10 years. What makes this product stand out is the built in encryption. Most people don't need encryption, but there are many people who should be using encryption that don't realize it. If you have sensitive client information on your computer, then it only makes sense to back it up to an external drive that can offer some privacy and protection.

I have purchased around 10 of these portable drives in both the 500Gb and 1Tb capacity to use at both home and work. None have failed.

I took my computer in because it crashed, and I thought all was lost. I purchased this item, and all information and pictures were retrieved and saved. Plus, It has plenty of storage for future items, and can be connected to a new computer in the future. Next, we will save in for on my husband's computer before it is too late! Lesson learned.

i was looking for a easy basic storage device for my laptop. This was what I was looking for and installation and use is very easy.

I use these drives in all my local backup setups for desktops and laptops alike, and never have problems. I have a golden rule, keep your data in at least two places. Consider this drive especially if you don't consider cloud storage an option. Remember, these are hard drive drives too, so also consider replacing them every 6 or so years.

Drive was plug and use. Allows for a tremendous amount of storage. No compatibility issues.
