I bought this to back up my desktop files. Simple and does the job.

Worthless! This works great until you actually have to use it to transfer files. It won't transfer across operating systems. Can't transfer from Windows XP to Windows 10. Changing operating system version corrupts device. Customer Support is out of US! They couldn't provide a work around. What good is this if it won't work when you need your files. THIS IS A WASTE OF MONEY, MY TIME AND CAN'T RETRIEVE FILES. Do not buy.

I like this for the backup to my office computer. Backup software is much less bloated than Toshiba.

Holds all my files at a quick and fast location to carry around and retrieve whenever needed.

Since I had to have an external hard drive, at least this did the job for a (relatively) inexpensive price.

I had to return this one. It seamed to be corrupt. it happens best buy returned with no problem.

Despite all the good interviews you may see about this product, DO NOT believe it! This external hard drive is all handy dandy when you first start using it, but this hard drive will slow your computer down and it'll have its moments where it doesn't want to be read by the computer. A lot of my friends have the same problem, and we're all photographers. We use this to backup our old work and it is not a good thing to buy. If you want an external hard drive that won't slow your computer down and that'll always be read, get a LaCie hard drive (the thunderbolt edition). That one is highly used and recommended.

Tried to install it on a recent Macbook Air, went to site for directions and then had to click another link to get the Mac directions, would not partition/format the drive for unknown reasons, would not "enable journaling" and finally would not erase the drive. Returned it to the store which was super easy, very helpful staff, got a Seagate Backup Plus Slim which worked fine. Seagate is the way to go.

drive constantly falls offline... I continually have to reboot to get it to work. I was recently testing it using approved WD utilities, and it locked the drive!! Now I have to backup the entire drive and reformat it... I'm VERY disappointed.

I added all my data to this drive. Months go by, I try to access the data - the disk cannot be recognized by any computer. Boo. I trusted this device, my fault. Do not make my same mistake, use a cloud solution to store your digital life.

I tried it for my Mac bookpro but it did not work for my Mac book pro

It works great, but it no longer worked less than 3 years later.

Lasted 2 months.... disk unreadable. Do not send the money.
