I ignored the installed software and allowed Windows to install drivers. Next, I transferred all my videos, pictures, music, and documents that total over 1TB in a few hours. The transfer rate is excellent if you have USB 3.0 on your laptop or PC. You can encrypt and password protect files to lock out access. In turn, the files you want to share are easily accessed from folders without security features. I give my friends and family My Passport to share content and genealogy files respectively, knowing that my private folders cannot be accessed.

Everything is going great with the TV so far! We bought a Warrenty just in case.

I bought the drive to use as a backup/storage drive and it works great. It plugs right int a usb port and it is ready to use. The added software is a bonus feature to help you keep your files backed up.
