Great At the Price

There is more than enough space for my three machines. The only downside was that its own backup application failed to recognize it as connected to one of my laptops. Since I was only testing this application, it was a moot issue. My regular backup program read this just fine. It uses a USB C to USB C cable, included, which is still a bit unusual, but it works just fine. I had been using a USB C to serial adapter with my @Tb WD backup so I was a bit surprised at the change, but it seems not to have affected the upload speeds.

No idea how durable it will be but WD is a reliable brand and I had drives from them before that never failed me.

Needed USB-C drive for iMac backup

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thunderbolt-3 and USB-C drives seem to be in short supply, but found this WD-My Passport Ultra 4TB drive to be just the ticket for doing a complete backup (clone) of my iMac prior to upgrading from Mojave to Catalina. I had to reformat the drive, which comes formatted for Windows, to HFS+ for Mac. That was painless, and easy. The backup, which is now bootable clone of the iMac, will allow me to fall back to Mojave should Catalina prove to be too buggy.
