This is a slim external hardrive wich is a great back-up storage for your important files, music or movies. It is a plug and play, there is an led for power indicator. Speed is acceptable even with 2.0 USB.

This external hardrive was suggested to me from Geeksquad to complete a data transfer. I am an online student and use the external hardrive to store my past semesters papers and assignments on it. Great Item!

I use this for offshore work and it can get banged about quite a bit. I've never had any issues with this HD and continue to buy the WD brand only bigger storage whenever I need them. Durable and reliable, I continue to be impressed by this make and model.

Bought this for a friend along with Acronis True Image when he had a computer scare. It was a good time to make him aware of how dangerous it is to run a business with computer without a backup plan. Great drive at a great price.

The Passport is a great device for backing up all data files (pictures and videos included) and also small enough for easy storage and/or traveling. It has enough storage for me to back up both my laptop and desktop computers. Backing up my data was very easy, fast and efficient. The compactness of the device allows for convenient travel, and for easy plug and play to any other compatible computer or device -- whenever and wherever.

I liked upgrading to a back up that did not need power. My old one has to be powered to run. I also liked its small size and portability.

I had a 750 GB Seagate unit with a LOT of available space left, but it was not compatible with new Windows 8. Very upsetting as I didn't think I could afford a current high GB unit. Was pleasantly surprised that I could get 500 GB for such a reasonable price. Could actually have gone higher, but was a little gun-shy to make the leap - - in case Microsoft makes another upgrade! I have simple back-up needs, so it has many extra features/options I don't really use - but that makes it an even better buy for those with more specific needs.

Have been using WD drives for years, this one is great. Love the square design, feels good in the palm of my hand. Unlike other brands, WD doesn't force you to use their own backup software, but it is there if you want it.

Designed to store data and does that well. We used it to download all files during a recent maintenance visit. Had to take it back to confirm our pictures were available. Once the file was identified and renamed, my wife had no problems reloading data to her computer.

I was looking for a small USB External Hard Drive to store my embroidery designs. This 500 GB WD MY Passport was just right. It is small enough to fit in my computer case and use in classes as well as at home.

This is my first external portable hard drive. I had some security issues at work and fifteen years of personal files on my laptop, so I transferred them all to my Passport Ultra and no longer have any worries. My files go with me; I keep it in the carrying pouch and in my purse at all times. Very light-weight and slim design. Not bulky at all! I've been surprised four times now because I've actually had moments where having those files with me, rather than at work, saved me tons of extra work.

I purchased the WD My Passport ultra 500 GB hard drive for a relative who wanted to backup his Windows 7 laptop PC files. I connected the USB cable and used the Windows Backup utility to copy user files from laptop to portable hard drive successfully

My hard drive crashed and the Geek Squad chose the Passport Ultra 500 GB external hard drive to save all my pictures and files. It's small and compact, but it saved everything and has lots of space left over. It worked out well for my needs.

I bought this after my hard drive went out of my other laptop. Didn't have a backup on it so I lost all my stuff. Well that won't happen again as I bought this one and Great device for the price!

Needed an external back-up drive. This unit seemed solid, compact, and was a decent price at the time of purchase (about $50 - now it is a bit more and you can get 1 TB for only a little more than that, so pricing is quite different today). We only needed 500 MB, and the size and light weight was important. Also, it had fewer troubles in its reviews, from units like the Toshiba. It works great, especially using the USB 3.0 capability. Nice, fast transfers. Only complaint is that the software utility is not wholly intuitive, in the sense that you can't easily see what is going on or how to get to choosing the files you want to back up. But, once you get the hang of it, back-ups are a breeze, and you can set it to work in the background on a regular schedule, if you want. Only time will tell as to its durability.
