After spending a week loading things on it, it WOULD NOT MOUNT. I tired so many ways, did lots of research -- and still WOULD NOT MOUNT. I had to use an app just to see what was on it -- then I erased and am returning. Sucks.

I have had nothing but problems trying to get this to work with my Mac book pro.I have trying reformatting still not working.I like my 2 tb passport that works fine, but this one is still a problem.

Transmission of data is not fast. Hopefully it will improve soon.

Be wary of the fire wire connector on this model. I learned the hard way after the connector detached from the circuit board inside of the housing. I’m going through the painful process of third party data Recovery at a hefty price tag.

I couldn’t figure out how to work it I would recommend LaCie because it’s very easy to use

I bought this just over a year ago. It worked fine for about eight months, and then it crashed. Lost everything I had on it. Paid way to much for this thing to only a year.

Lies said it could be used on a PC and you can't. So I had to return it. I don't use Mac or apple products.

I've had nothing but trouble with this external backup hard drive. Have had tech support visit twice. They get it working....it fails again after about 3 hours.

The drive had issues out of the box. I need to find time to take it back. Constant read/write errors

Bricked in less than 2 weeks. Lost very important documents

No clear instructions in package. When plugged in to the computer again no instructions. Once I got help getting it running it did not download all the information on my computer. Went back to Best Buy to return it and was told I would have to send it back to manufacturer.

I love this hard drive. I can work on my photos or video. Well with it.

I already have this same hard drive and wanted another as a backup. It works exactly the way I hoped it would.

Four drives. All WD. All dead within 2 years. If you have important data - don't trust WD with it. If that's not bad enough when the drives DO fail, the replacement process is horrendous. You have to mail them the drive. Any sort of data recovery efforts and cost are on you prior to that. There's fees. And they take forever to process replacements. This is why companies should not be allowed to buy up all their competitors and then monopolize what's available in store. Pretty much most of the hard drive aisle (non-SSD) at the Best Buy stores are a subsidiary of Western Digital. Now the drive is taking forever to mount and eventually it won't - so take that as an early warning sign - when you start having issues mounting the drive and you're no longer able to run disk utility on the drive without it locking up. Eventually the drive will just flash and stop mounting.
