Won' t be buying this again

It would briefly spin up, then stop. Would never mount. System would see that there was something WD attached, but Disk Utility would not. Was glad I had backups of most of the stuff I was working on.

Poor reliability

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased two WD Easy Store hard drives (both 5TB) - one made it almost a year and failed the other 2-3 months and failed. I figured I would go for a gaming hard drive thinking maybe the reliability would be better since these typically stay plugged into a console and literally not even 2 months later this one is now clicking and failing as well. When you deal with Western Digital’s RMA process, you get a few things out of it: (1) the way they just readily swap the drive with little fuss, fanfare or troubleshooting, suggests this is a very common occurrence; (2) the whole process seems to be a slap in the face to the consumer who’s only mistake was buying your product. If you want them to ship you a replacement drive so you can try to salvage your data, before you ship back the defective drive there’s a non-refundable fee now. They are very up front and act like they could care less about your data - they tell you if you want to try to retrieve data that’s on you. As is finding packaging and paying for shipping to get the drive back to them. Honestly after three failing drives in a year, I think I’m done with Western Digital. At least Seagate offers Rescue Data Recovery Services and has a better RMA process that doesn’t kick you while you’re down.
