My husband really enjoyed this movie. He is into WW2 movies.

This is absolutely one of the greatest war movies ever made. It shows the thing that keeps soldiers fighting... That they aren't fighting for God and Country, they arent fighting for "The Cause". They are fighting for the men beside them. It also shows how the families stick together to help each other through. It's also a movie that will make you feel for the characters. I have now watched this movie over 8 times, and I still get a tear in my eye more than once in the movie. Great movie! I can't recommend this high enough! Also this Blu-Ray version has a wonderful picture and the sound is amazing. Just one more reason to recommend this.

This movie takes the war era of vietnam and brings it to the modern audience today. Most people have all but forgotten the Korean War, and more and more people are thinking of vietnam as a couple of years that grandpa went off to war. Very few people identify with the sacrifices and hardships our fathers and grandfathers went through. This story is set on a real battle as far as my understanding goes, and is very accurate in the cinematics and storyline. I don't know how historically accurate it is, but more important than that, it gives a window into an era that most of us today cannot understand. This is what Saving Private Ryan did to help people see World War II with modern moviemaking. It helps immerse you into the experience, and this film does it. There is significant violence, bloodshed, and above all that the courage and actions of brave soldiers. Well worth the price by far.

Sticks close to the book and gives a real insight to what the first major battle of the Vietnam War was like. I only wish we had more battlefield commanders like LTC Hal Moore and more movies like this one. Sam Elliot steals every scene he is in with his rendition of a battle hardened SGM. Also goes farther than almost all other movies to show what the life is like for the wives and families left behind. The blue-ray treatment is good, but the writing, acting and true to life scenese are enthralling. Recommend you read the book also.

I usually chose not to buy " Vietnam Era " movies as they were allways overly macho with the action and passion scenes and allways made a mockery of what really happened and what our guys really went thru. But this movie, I am proud to say, came from the heart and focused on what really happened in that engagement both from the soldier's view and the NVA's view. The special effects and sound was amazing thruout the film as was the acting and the location. I would have to say this was one of the finest role's Mel Gibson has ever played. The movie was a sad one though especially at the end, but it was a true story. I'd recomend this film to anyone!

we were soldier is another great war movie and well acted and another good war story and this is one of gibson better movies now i only wish they would release hamburger hill on blu-ray so i can complete my war collection on blu-ray but like i said we were soldier is one of the best

If you're looking for a good war-time movie, this is it! It's a great movie that will move you emotionally.

Its the best war movie ive ever seen mel gibson is amazing in this it even has sweet parts women will like. If you have any heart at all this movie will bring tears to your eyes

This is one of the best war movie that ever came out!!

Loved this movie!! Totally awesome! BUT, the Video quality is HORRIBLE!! Doesn't even compare to a "Standard Quality" VHS tape. I've purchased many older movies which were remastered to Blu-ray and although some were not quite what one might want/expect from a Blu-ray disc, No other Blu-ray movie has video quality as bad as this Blu-ray movie. BestBuy.com shows this movie is being re-released on 10-01-2013. Perhaps this issue with the horrible video quality has been corrected and thus they're re-releasing it....I hope so. Don't get me wrong....some of the older movies I've purchased have video quality which isn't quite up to a Blu-ray quality since it was filmed many years ago...but they all are very close. But I've not bought any other Blu-ray movie with video quality as poor as this one. I would highly recommend this movie to a friend but not this Blu-ray release.
