I apologize for the issues you are experiencing.
Webroot is currently the lightest antivirus on the market so the effect on your system should be negligible. If you believe that Webroot is slowing down your system it would be best to contact support directly so they can look into this issue for you.

That being said for piece of mind should definitely install security software if you want it on your Mac. Because Webroot it disables great built-in features (dictation for example) by default I don't recommend Webroot to anyone. If you want Webroot & are comfortable going into the Webroot admin settings to enable dictation I would say it's as good as any of the other security suites.
