It does not slow a machine down. I bought this when I purchased a macbook not thinking about it being needed for an Apple product. But I kept it and used it on other laptops. In fact, I could not figure out what what was keeping one laptop from starting up. I uninstalled McAfee and installed webroot and it started up.

I would recommend for use, with the caveat, that my programs seemed to be a touch slower. It's probably just my system setup and I need to tweak some settings, but it's not worth the hassle for a ' one second of delay'.

I have an appointment scheduled this saturday to get rid of it!!!!!

Are you sure this is a virus and not a browser lock?

Difficult to navigate through the products and find something thorough that doesn't bog down the system. Sales person helped me find just the right product. Early in the timeline to really tell how well this will work over time, but as long as one doesn't do dumb things and keeps the software updated, this product should do a really good job.
