The Mac operating system can get viruses the same as the Windows platform can. This was a common misconception in the past because of Macs low market share opposed to Windows.
We would advise installing Webroot, or another security provider as soon as possible.

It is very thorough, even catching problems that my old provider missed. It's also much cheaper and you can have 5 multiple devices instead of 3.
