You do with a pc I know, because that was one of the reasons my dell laptop lasted for almost 12 years with no problems. Only once did I have trouble, but it was fixable. Would I recommend to a friend? Not to a Mac user, maybe to a pc user but I am not currently using this product.

This is not the case. Macs are susceptible to viruses and there have been some very serious campaigns specifically targeting Mac in the last year or so.
I would advise doing some research about the new threats available for Mac and then make a determination.
