We are sorry that you are not enjoying the use of Webroot.
Webroot only scans the files that can be malicious. There is no reason to scan every file on the computer. If you wanted to scan all of the files on the computer you simply open Webroot, click the gear icon next to "PC Security", click the "Custom Scan" button, then select "Full".
This will scan every file on the computer, but again, is unnecessary.

Most antivirus companies are subscription based in multiple year packages. We offer ours as a promotion to familiarize customers with the value of the product before actually having to buy it. We would advise installing it and checking it out.

Posted .Webroot shouldn't slow the system down. If it is slowing down a small amount while scanning, you can adjust your settings by clicking 'Advanced Settings', 'Scan Settings', and then checking 'Favor low CPU usage over fast scanning'.
If it is an issue when you aren't scanning, one of our technicians can resolve this free of charge if you open a support ticket.
