I cannot say anything in regards to the virus, because I have no idea if that is what it was, or if you were seeing Potentially Unwanted Applications.
If you ever believe your computer to be infected and Webroot is not detecting anything, you can always contact our support team and we will find a resolution to the situation free of charge.
Webroot does not currently block spam, that is the responsibility of your email service provider. We will block navigation to malicious links that come through email, as well as detect and remove any opened attachments that happen to be a threat.
