Posted .I apologize that you had an infection. I hope Webroot was installed properly on your machine and in the rare case that a virus gets through, Webroot uses journaling and rollback technology to undo the malicious changes the file makes.

Webroot came with the purchase of a new Samsung laptop and Windows 7 I have more trouble now with google and Juno, both crashing on me. Don't know the cause Don't think the new laptop is at fault.

After hours and several phone calls to the Geek Squad, we took the item back to the store as suggested by Best Buy. When we got there, we were told that it is not needed for the Surface RT. Clearly the "professionals" at Best Buy didn't have a clue!

Posted .I apologize for the confusion. Webroot SecureAnywhere is offered on multiple platforms including Windows 8, Mac OSX, iOS, and Android and the Geek Squad may have thought Surface RT was included.
The Surface RT allows apps to be downloaded and SecureAnywhere is not currently available in the Windows Store. However, we are looking into the demand for a presence on the Windows mobile platform and it could be an option down the road.

Within a half hour of loging on to the net, my new computer had ransomware downloaded and webroot could not remove it let alone prevent it. I was able to remove it with malwarebytes. It was free, what can I expect.

It is impossible to get ransomware without navigating to malicious websites and downloading things, or opening loaded email attachments. Webroot would block this sort of attack before it had a chance to download and execute. If you ever believe you are infected, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.

I neither needed it nor wanted it, and will not install it, but was required to purchase it as part of the larger package. Now, I get monthly reminders to install something I did not want in the first place.
