Posted .Webroot scans in just a few minutes but if you would like to adjust when the scans happen you can do so under Settings, Advanced Settings, and then Scan Schedule/Scan Settings.

Every version of Webroot is able to be installed by downloading. You must navigate to http://www.webroot.com/us/en/products/wsa-installer-download to download and install the product on your machine. You can also reach out to our support team or Geek Squad and we can assist you with installing it.

Popups are rarely malicious and are almost always caused by the end user installing a potentially unwanted application, which is not malicious. I am unsure where you heard this but this is untrue. Macs are becoming increasingly infected as they gain market share. Please take a look at http://www.webroot.com/blog/2015/11/12/is-2015-the-year-of-mac-malware/ for more information about this, as well as http://www.webroot.com/blog/2016/03/07/18611/ for a good example of ransomware specifically targeting the Mac OS.
