Posted .Viruses are always written for a specific platform. A virus written for Windows can only run on a Windows machine. Now consider that the aim of a computer virus is to spread to as many other machines as possible, much like the common cold spreads through the population when we hit winter. Attackers are obviously going to most often target the platform that the majority of people use in order to get the best return from their attack. And that platform happens to be Windows. Mac systems do still have vulnerabilities; however, they are not exploited as often as Windows is. That being said, there are plenty of threats designed for the MacOS, and that's where Webroot will be valuable to you as a Mac user.

Webroot is offered as a free product as a promotion from Best Buy. It only lasts 6 months to acclimate customers to the software. If you have experienced an issue it is best to reach out to Geek Squad for assistance.

The Mac OS needs antivirus just like Windows does. There are no malware variants specifically targetting the Mac OS. We advise installing some form of security on your machine asap.

Webroot SecureAnywhere is based in the cloud, so the CD, while being a useful way to install the product, is not totally necessary. The program can be downloaded to any computer with an internet connection. Here are the links to the installers:

Webroot SecureAnywhere is compatible with Android devices with the following specs:
Android operating system version 2.1 or higher
Android-compatible device with 3 MB of free storage space
3G/4G data connection required for some features
Since iOS devices (iPad, etc) are very resilient against viruses, the WSA software is not actually needed - so its not compatible. However, the Webroot SecureBrowser app and the Webroot Backup&Sync app (for Complete customers) are compatible with Apple devices, as they are on Android devices.
