Our software will block malicious pop-ups - it will block any pop-ups that attempt to infect your computer or are themselves caused by an infection.
Some websites have their own pop-ups which are not malicious. These are often designed to offer some kind of extra experience or information to the user while browsing the websites in question. These pop-ups can be blocked by changing the settings in your browser.
Here are the pop-up blocking instructions for the three major browsers.
Internet Explorer:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on Tools (or the gear icon in the upper right corner).
3. Go to Pop-Up Blocker in the drop-down menu.
4. Select Pop-Up Blocker Settings.
5. Set the blocking level to high at the bottom of the window.

Have had no problems, but then, Best Buy associates "guide" you to buy whatever they are told to sell. Last time I bought a laptop, I was "guided" to buy (Another Brand). It is my opinion that my machine was not protected. It was running great, then got a nasty virus. Geek Squad successfully got the virus off, then shortly after that, the laptop expired. The reason, of course, for this purchase.

I was initially dismayed that I did not receive a "brand name" security software, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the Webroot software. It works behind the scenes (in the cloud, according to Webroot) to update virus definitions automatically. It has successfully blocked some threats, and I feel safe using it.
