great TV - lacking in apps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV because it was less than $300 for a 4K Ultra Smart TV. I needed a Smart TV for a room without a cable hook up. The TV has a great picture and sound. I am disappointed by the quality and quantity of apps and the inability to download more apps to the menu. Given the price and the quality of the picture and sound, I am overall happy with the TV. I am just going to have to purchase a streaming device to get the apps I need/want. It is certainly a great value and even with having to pay another $40 for a streaming device, I am happy with my purchase. Just wish I had been aware of the app deficiency instead of surprised by it.

Great Picture, no headache, EZ Smart Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is nothing that causes you to have more of a headache by by have a 60hz tv vs a 120 or 240hz. Technically, sports action is the ony area where you may see a difference. 60 frames a second is still very fast. The issue is how your brain interprets motion. Because it's your brain, everyone is going to see motion resolution somewhat differently. Some people don't notice motion blur. Some people aren't bothered by it. Some (like me) notice it quite often and are bothered by it. There are two primary ways to fool the brain into seeing better detail with LEDs: backlight flashing (also called backlight scanning) and frame insertion. Even so, you still probably won’t notice a blur during and NFL game, or basketball game. Following a hockey puck is tough no matter what. Backlight flashing is what it sounds like. The most basic version of backlight flashing is the backlight going dark in between video frames. This moment of darkness is much like how a film projector works: an image, then darkness, an image, then darkness, and so on. Done slowly, this can result in flicker. Done fast enough, and you don't notice it. A more advanced version, called backlight scanning, dims sections of the backlight in sequence with the video. In either case, the side effect is a loss of light output (sometimes significantly), because there are sections of time where the backlight is literally off (or close to it). There is another way of doing this called black-frame insertion, which shows a black image in between the real frames, but that doesn't actually manipulate the backlight.

Good for 329.00
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV looks just as good as any of the others costing two or three times as much. The only complaint I have is that the volume locks itself into "audio receiver" sometimes, therefore, not responding to any attempt to adjust the volume. In order to correct, you have to dig into the settings two or three menus deep. It was just by trial and error did I figure it out. Also, once the remote would not turn on the TV. I eventually unplugged/plugged and it responded. But,other than these minor issues, it works great and the clarity is superb for the price.

5 Stars for value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV on thanksgiving as a secondary TV for our guest room, and garage in the summer time. I ran it through a few tests...4k, sports, and gaming with the pre set picture settings - I am very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this set. I am comparing everything to my mid range 4K Sony X810C set, which I am very happy with. 4K looks great on this set, with very little motion blur. There is no HDR on this set, but the colors are still great. Sports look pretty solid, there is a little blur during fast paced moments, but nothing that would bother a casual TV watcher. The fields are uniform in color, which is a big deal. It performs well with gaming in "game mode", my PS4 Pro is well represented on this set. I haven't fired up any shooters yet, but all my sports games play very well. The Smart features are barely smart, you get your preset apps and that is it. You cannot add any additional apps. It has the majors like Netflix and YouTube. Lastly, the sound is garbage. Plan on having an additional audio source. Luckily sound bars are cheap now, and you can even hook this up to a small bookshelf audio system. All in all, this TV is a FANTASTIC value at anything under $449. It goes toe to toe with my Sony, which is quite a feat with a value set. I would buy again and again!

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV on Thanksgiving. It was not advertised as a Black Friday sale, just simply a Deal of the Day. I paid $250. SInce I first pulled it out of the box, my regret was, I didn't buy 2. The picture is amazing. It's Feb and I still walk by and compliment myself on getting a steal. It was never intended to be more than a porch TV. I am looking to add one more 50" to my house and I came back upon this TV. It's on sale for $299. $50 more than I paid before, and I am just fine with that. The picture is amazing. It is super light weight. The "smart" capabilities are fast and pic is just as good as HDMI cable. Not a single complaint. Yes, remote can be a bit "wonky" but who cares. The sound could be better, but not a thing for me. I am about to buy my second one of these TVs. What else can I say?

Screen problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV almost four months ago. The picture is good and all for not being HDR, but I've been having problems with the screen for about a month or longer now. The sound will keep playing, even while using the tv menu, but the picture just flashes to a black screen for about two seconds and then back to normal, repeatedly for a few minutes. Even after turning the tv off and back on/reconnecting hdmi cables. It will randomly start, and randomly end. It gets extremely frustrating because you can't play games or watch tv until it stops. It happens with my ps4, Wii u, and my laptop. I'm about to see if best buy can do anything about it or if I can exchange it. I hope it's just a problem with mine alone but if it's not then I would not buy this tv. Another problem is that when I turn on the tv and my ps4, it says no connection detected and I have to plug the hdmi cord back into the tv two or three times until it the picture finally appears

Overall, Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The television itself is pretty awesome. The screen resolution is great. The picture is clear. The volume is perfect. The only qualm I have is that the remote is finicky. One time it didn't work turn the TV off in a couple minutes turn it back on and the remote was fine. Plus it's thin.

Has some flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv plays well but when I hooked up a dvd player to the component source for the RCA (red, yellow, & white) it only showed in black & white. I tried the dvd player on another tv and it worked find full color & sound. I then went out and bought the composite cables with the (Y/PB/PR) which had a good picture BUT NO SOUND. The only way I could get this to work was combining the RCA left & right audio (white & red) with the composite (Y/PB/PR) to get a color picture along with video. I’m sure this is a defect and I’m wondering if I should return this tv before the warranty expires or take a chance with living with this defect hoping that this is all that is wrong with this tv. Also, this is truly not a real smart tv because it only allows you to view pre-programmed applications already installed on the tv. Had I known this I would have went with the 50inch Insignia tv I originally ordered at Walmart which was a true smart tv and had more features for the same price, I only went with this tv because the shipping came sooner.

Terrible for gaming & movies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please don't take this lightly- This is a terrible choice if you plan to play video games or watch a lot of movies. The input lag is unforgivable. With my game console connected, I'd move the controller and a second later it would show on screen. I'd pull the trigger button and a second later the on-screen character would fire. Even in "game mode" it has this terrible lag, and while the games looked beautiful they were almost impossible to play like this. Equally jarring is the movie-watching experience. With the movie mode on it has a profound soap opera effect-- everything looks cheap and shot on videotape. Motion is strange. With these effects turned off, there was terrible screen tearing and blur. It was literally nausea-inducing. If you only watch sitcoms and dramas, you'll probably be perfectly happy with this television. However, if you're looking for something for gaming, movies with any sort of action in them, or sports, look somewhere else. Westinghouse has one of the slowest, laggiest panels I've ever seen on a television, and this is saying a lot because I used to sell televisions. I highly recommend that you live without 4k for now if you're shopping in this price range, and instead put the same amount of money into an Insignia 1080p, since they're made by LG these days and don't have the lag issues of Westinghouse, Hisense, or other cheap panels. Low-cost 4k panels aren't at the point where they're right for gaming or action yet, and that's OK because most games are just fine at 1080p anyway. Save the money, get a full HD screen, and wait another couple years for the Samsung, LG, Vizio, Insignia, Sharp, and Sony 4K televisions to drop in price. Just DO NOT buy this TV if you want to play games or watch any action.

Surprisingly Clear Picture and Smooth Motion!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. But this TV because price was unbeatable. I, originally and personally, never saw myself purchasing a Westinghouse TV. I always thought of them as a lower quality, "off-brand". But I was wrong, This TV Is Fantastic. You may get small bells and whistles out of the other "better brands" but for the price difference, I would choose this TV any day.

Westinghouse TV Disappoints
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a Westinghouse 50 inch 4K Smart TV from Best Buy. At 10 months the unit would not turn on. Was told by Westinghouse that the set was defective and to return it to them in the original packaging at my expense (hundreds of dollars). A local TV repairman said it wasn’t worth repairing and he is seeing similar problems with low end products. He recommended some quality brands and I purchased a new Samsung with a seven year warranty. They will come to my home to repair or replace. I read many of these reviews of the Westinghouse TV beforehand, but ultimately made the mistake of purchasing. I have had many TVs over the years and none of them failed as this one—both in quality and customer service.

Horrible Lag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t know how people gave this tv a good rating. The picture has a horrible lag even after adjusting the settings. You can’t watch a movie or a tv show without the tv glitching and lagging, and the Remote is horrible. You have to press a button about 3 times before the tv responds to the command you gave. I’m never buying a Westinghouse again

Excellent value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our first high definition television. The picture is superb in color and clarity. I thought I would have to pay at least double the price to get this kind of a high quality picture. The only downside is the sound is rather 'tinny'. I had thought of giving a 4 star rating because of the sound, however, the picture is so unbelievably good I feel it compensated for that. The addition of a sound system we already had certainly rectified the situation. I spent a great deal of time researching TV's on the internet. In my opinion this is the best value on the market. I highly recommend it.

Incredible!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant to purchase this TV since it was priced so low. I'm so glad I decided to buy this, the quality is impressive. It lagged a little playing video games but after making changes on my console the TV was perfect.

Great Picture/Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a 2nd TV for my bedroom. I'm really impressed with the quality of the picture. I use it for viewing movies, sports and misc TV shows, but not gaming. I've noticed no lag or picture blurring even when watching a fast paced sport like ice hockey. The Networking features like NetFlicks, Youtube and others are great features. Set-up was fast and easy. For the price it can't be beat.

Excellent 4k TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased one of these for my new house and for the money it's outstanding. I have a LG 55 as my main 4k TV and the picture is better than that unit, now that one was purchased 1.5 years ago for 699.00. I was really surprised at the 4k quality on a TV that sells for 349.00. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a good inexpensive 4k lcd tv.
