Great for Gaming! Not disappointed AT ALL

First off, I am a huge gamer. I have many consoles that span over many decades, and this TV is great for it. I was afraid at first about input lag and no other reviews or answers mentioned that there was a game mode for the television, but the price was very convincing otherwise, so I had to get this TV (a 4K 55 inch TV for ONLY $299?? You bet I'm on that train!) To my surprise, there WAS a Gaming Mode in the Picture settings on the TV, and so far in my time playing on the TV, there has been unnoticeable input lag! If you are a gamer and are worried that the TV won't provide settings for gaming, then you can be put at ease. The TV is extremely affordable for it's price and you get great picture quality and low input lag with Gaming Mode on. The only con I have of this TV is the low audio quality, but since I use a headset for gaming, this is the last thing I really need to worry about. Definitely would recommend this TV!!

Great picture and sound. Easy to setup.

This is an amazing TV for the price ($299). First when you get this TV cut the white strapes from the box. You do not have to cut open the box like I did. The bottom pulls out. Very smart. This TV is light and easy to handle for stand installation or wall mount. I was able to handle it easily by myself. I'm only 5'7" and I'm 51. So most people should be able to do this. I was very impressed with the picture it is definately an upgrade to the last 1080p that I had (same size). What really surprised me was the sound. Much more than I expected. It's not a stereo suround sound obviously. But for two relatively small speakers in the back it rocks. The menu system is easy and the setup went fast. WiFi worked perfect. I have been playing with the apps and they work great too. I definately recommend this TV. Great quality for an unbelievable price.

    A good budget 4K

I bought this during the Black Friday preview sale for $249. Didn't see many reviews for it so it was a bit of a gamble but I gambled on a Westinghouse 1080p back in 2007 so I figured I would try my luck again and worst case scenario I was out $250. Westinghouse came through again though, this TV performs very decently. Picture quality is nice and vibrant and 4K content is eyepopping. Gaming also runs nicely too, I haven't experienced noticeable input lag that seems to plague other 4K sets. My score is mostly based on factoring in the price; it's probably a 3 star TV overall but the price pushes it up since it's a bit of a bargain. There are not a huge wealth of menu/video options, you are limited to the Smart apps that come with the TV; they are garbage, slow, and probably out of date but they do give you access to 4K content if you don't have another device to do it. It will also play 4K video files and music/photos via USB. The menu/remote is a bit finicky but I just got used to it. Sometimes the sound does not come back after unmuting the TV and it has to be turned off and back on. The TV also does not have HDR which is the feature that many will say is the real game-changer in 4K (it still looks beautiful though). The TV stand legs have a wide stance so that is something to consider as well; we had to come up with a whole new setup to accommodate it. As with any big tech purchase, I urge you to look closely at the specifications and ports/features of the TV to make sure it has everything you need. Is 240hz important to you? HDR? High quality speakers? Keep looking. This won't be a TV for everybody, but it does get the basic job done. Considering the price of other 4K sets and the problems in important things like picture quality or input lag for gaming that many other budget sets have, I'd recommend this set as long as you aren't expecting perfection in the entire package. It will competently play 4k and 1080p content as well as games, and that's honestly all I was hoping for at this price. For this house, it's tiding us over until we get a proper HDR set in the future when prices drop and will make a trusty secondary TV.

for the price the tv is very good , but i was expecting more than what i get , the picture is great but there is only one issue for me it's the screen brightness , no matter what i do i still cant make it bright , you are not allowed to download apps , i will by chromecast or roku device . sound is good and higher than i was expecting from reviews. easy to setup , generally the TV is god and again my problem with it is the brightness.

    Great 4K HD TV

We purchased this TV for our basement. We looked at several other brands that were more expensive. My husband was a bit skeptical as he is an extreme tech kind of guy; however, this TV has definitely met our needs. The picture is extremely clear. The 4K programming lets you see every detail. I would definitely recommend this to others!

Purchased this TV around Thanksgiving after returning a 55" 1080p led that cost me 279.00 but was giving me trouble. I think this is a great tv for the cost i paid 299.00. Great pic, adequate sound and enough connections. I'm good with it....cons: remote does not sync with my uverse remote for changing inputs all else are fine...I only give 5s if god made it

Never seen my ps3 display 1080p before. Games look great so far. Can't wait for ffxv to come out for my ps4. Bet it will look great. Tv sound isn't sharp but it's definitely louder and better than my old plasma flat screen. Hooked up to Wi-Fi easily. Netflix shows that are available in 4k look great. Delivered on time and in good condition. No center stand so make sure you have something wide enough to set it on or have a wall mount. Cons: It didn't have the ability to name the inputs. If it has that feature I haven't found it yet. Only two audio outputs are optical and headphone jack. Have to buy a Y cable to hook up tv to older stereo equipment.

LOVE TV, WHY does it freeze & need 2B unplugged?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I love my new tv, or I would if it did not keep freezing and needing to be unplugged....it has happened four times already and I have only had it about that many days. It was easy to set up, great picture, great sound, my antennae picked up lots of channels and it worked fine with wireless internet. Another problem I had was it asked me to set up the internet again...so i had to re-enter the password...I hope that does not keep happening. I am going to call and see if I can get a replacement - exchange this tv for that does not freeze...or maybe buy another brand if I can't get it resolved. Man, I really want this tv to work, it was a great price and has the capacity to be a great tv, but to have to unplug it every other time is a deal breaker. I want to rate it a 5 star, but I CAN'T because I CAN'T KEEP IT if I have to unplug it every other time I watch it!! Will give 5 stars if I can get this resolved!

So this Tv was great and I won't go into all the details about it but the only downside this tv had was when the power button is pressed the TV doesn't fully turn off. The screen goes slightly dark but the backlight is still on. The easy fix for this is just to press the power button again and it will turn off.

This TV is great! The picture and sound quality are top notch. I bought this last week when it was $299 plus free delivery. The set up was easy and the picture is crisp and clear. You get a LOT for the money: 55", 4K and a Smart tv. Don't be a brand snob, and rule out this Westinghouse TV, because this one has it all. I read a few reviews here that were not so good, but I can't agree with them. For me, this TV is a winner, winner, even without the chicken dinner :-)

Great economical "under the radar" 4K TV

I was in the market for a decent new HD tv to take care of my dying 32 inch (8 years old). Below was my criteria *50 + inch in size *4K -----I figured why not go big as this is the new standard coming *Under $500 -------TV was on sale for $299 *Well known brand name (Westinghouse has been around for decades)*Middle of the road quality This TV checks all those boxes. YES, other better 4K tvs with better picture quality exist. But you also must be willing to pay for that. Personally that is more than I need and this TV works great. I've never been the type that needs to keep up with the Joneses (hence my 8 year old 32 inch I'm just now replacing before it gives out fully). As the most recent review says, you must play with the picture and sound settings to tweak them to your environment. No TV is going to come out the box ready to go. I remember back in the days of the CRT tube TVs having to edit those as well so this is not a new concept. One little blip was the TV making a clicking sound shortly after unboxing and turning it on for the first time. I unplugged the TV, waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in. I never heard the sound again and I've had it in use all this past weekend. Overall I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I also opted for the 5 year warranty coverage. This TV was not available in stores and delivery is only through Best Buy home delivery which is not available everywhere.

My experience with this Westinghouse TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Pros - Looks very nice - Great screen size - Easy setup - Awesome Price Cons - Bad latency almost screen tearing bad. - Arrived with 3+ dead pixels (Could've just been my unit} - Bad audio (Not really a issue) The lag while watching movies/tv was really what killed it for me. The dead pixels might of just been my unit and the audio can be solved by using pc speakers or a sound bar. I bought this just to watch movies on not to play games and it still let me down. I would honestly advise against getting this tv but if you want to give it a shot like I did you're not going to lose anything just return it if you have any issues like I did today.

JUNK - Do NOT Buy - Mail-in warranty on 55"

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy! I purchased this 55" WD55UB4530 model in Nov 2016 and have used it for 1 year. Yes, it is an older model. The 3rd HDMI port failed out-of-the box. On rare occasions, the TV will skip from network to YouTube when changing channels. It also shuts-off without notice from time-to-time. After telling us to do a "reset", we finally secured approval for either an exchange or refund. Westinghouse said could not repair the TV despite the fact the circuit board could be changed, and our noting that the warranty stated Westinghouse TVs over 51" qualified for in-home service. Westinghouse said since the TV could not be repaired, the exchange required us to mail-in the TV at our cost. The cheapest shipping was $175 for a TV that cost $325 in 2016's Black Friday. Despite numerous tries, we were told, "tough-luck," we'd have to mail it in. We had a Samsung 7 years ago where they replaced the main circuit board via the mfg warranty's in-home service without issue. Even TCL pays for warranty shipping both ways since it also doesn't have local authorized service centers like LG or Samsung. The magazine reviews state LG is only good for OLED as its LED model IPS panels have 50% less contrast vs. competition...thus are as dim as 3rd tier brands like TCL. Westinghouse also has low contrast panels. Samsung seems to be the only choice left (as most mfg. stopped making TVs and now license their names) for non-OLED TVs but then you must deal with the "Samsung panel lottery." Google it to understand. So, it is either the Samsung/Sony 8000 & up series, and LG OLED or a generic. Westinghouse is a generic you should stay away from. Pay the extra $200 for a Samsung. Westinghouse is now made by Tomfang (which also makes Element & Seiki). So beware, you are buying an Element.

My husband is so happy I bought this Smart TV for his 60th Birthday. The picture and sound quality are excellent. What makes my husband the happiest, is when he sees the smile on my face when he finds something new on this set, for me to enjoy. I bought it with him in mind, but I like it a lot also.

    It's not so "Smart"

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Good picture quality and it has okay sound by itself. But this is not a true smart tv. It has Pandora, youtube, netflix, the weather (idk why that's even important) and vudo. That's it. I would be more happy if it had Hulu on it. If you're looking for something that has good picture quality for the size than this is it but if you're looking to cut your cable or not have to buy a streaming device than pay a little more for one with Roku or Chromecast built in already.

    NOT OK 4K

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

4K is not OK with Westinghouse ABSOLUTE WORST PRODUCT I’VE EVER PURCHASED: BUYER BEWARE! I’m certainly NOT a whiner, but I’m going to whine a little bit about Westinghouse. I purchased this TV at a reputable national retailer and it lasted 4 weeks and 6 days. I simply stopped turning on. I consulted technical support to try and solve the problem, but was told to exchange the unit. 4 weeks and 6 days is just a few days past time for the retailer not to honor its in store exchange policy so I contacted Westinghouse customer support to troubleshoot and initiate the warranty process. Westinghouse made the process sound very simple: Take a picture of the front, back, serial number on the unit and original receipt of the TV for approval by the Westinghouse warehouse team. That was easy. I then explained that since I expected my TV to work for more than 5 weeks, I discarded the original packaging. I asked if they would ship my new unit so that I can use the box of the new TV to send the old back. I was told that this is common and I should receive the TV within a few days of the pictures clearing the warehouse quality check. What happened next is comical. I got an email from Westinghouse stating that they cannot locate a technician in my area to uninstall the old TV and install the new one… I live in a major metropolitan area. They’ve got to be kidding. Besides, I’m just unboxing it, turning it on and sending the old one back. Then they tell me that, I would have to locate a box, pay for shipping and insurance on the product on its way back to their California warranty return center and had to do so within 30 days. This sounded a little like getting a company to honor a rebate, so I emailed back to ask if I really have to be burdened with all of this labor to exchange this faulty product. To which they replied, yes and provided me with the shipping instructions. I’ve spent a week trying to locate box and a shipper that can come to my home to pick up a box of this size (as it doesn’t fit in my car and exceeds residential UPS/FedEx weight and size limit). This morning, I received an email from Westinghouse stating that my warranty case won’t be honored because I failed to contact them within 7 days of their shipping instructions. I’ve never in my life felt so upset at a major (or relatively minor) manufacturer over how they treat customers of their faulty products. You are a fool to purchase a Westinghouse anything. Pay a little extra, because you’re likely to have to pay much more later for your bad decision.
