Finally got to watch this for the first time. Wow, what a good movie! This film had an emotional intensity that is rarely seen in any movie. The intensity just kept ratcheting up until the finale of the film. I had read that this movie has a surprise ending, which is true; but the surprise was not what I was expecting considering everything in this film that built up to the finish.

This movie is a must see but hits hard at your emotions at the extremes between the two main characters that are both trying to be the best in the world by either being the best student (Miles Teller), or the best teacher (J.K. Simmons who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) trying to get every last once of talent out of his students in violent and somewhat degrading ways.

Was watching another movie and they showed the trailer to Whiplashc after seeing the trailer i immediately ordered the steelbook. The movie was outstanding! the acting, the sound, everything! so Happy I decided to get it. IF you haven't seen it, I cant recommend it enough.

Loved the movie, music and the acting was great. I am not sure I would like a teacher like Terence Fletcher but I do really think he cared about Andrew in a strange way. It was Fletcher's way of showing what he thought of Andrew that made the movie so intense. I recommend seeing the movie twice that is how I like to see movies as you miss stuff . Enjoy if you see it.

A career defining performance for JK Simmons and a strong performance from Teller makes this a must watch movie from Chazelle - who hasn't seemed to 'miss' since then. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it - and the steelbook case is a nice cherry on top.

This film is one of the most intense pictures I've seen from the past 20 years. Thanks largely to JK Simmons, delivering an absolutely masterful performance. A true achievement by first time feature length director, Damien Chazelle, as he makes the musical performances in the film feel as heavy and nail-biting as any car chase sequence ever filmed. Highly recommended.

'Whiplash' is one of the best 2014 films to watch! I absolutely love J.K. Simmons' performance very much since he's one of my favorite actors. This steelbook looks perfectly terrific to add for your Blu-Ray collection! I love the artwork and the packaging looks great to own.

This movie is amazing. If you like movies about musicians then you will love this. There isn't a dull moment whatsoever. The story and acting draw you in and together they make an unforgettable film. It's also crazy to think that Miles Teller is actually playing the drums for the movie. This is definitely one of those must-see films.

This movie was nominated for and won awards for A reason. The acting is some of the best of the year and the story is top notch. I recommend watching the original short film which is on the disc. This movie gets very intense to points where it's even difficult to watch. Any sequence in a film that makes you feel that much is worth watching. Highly recommended

Fantastic movie. Shipping was slow, but well worth it for a steelbook blu-ray version of this movie. This movie is just so exhilarating and thought-provoking! Great performances by everyone. Directing is top-notch and glad this movie got an oscar win!

I saw the movie on HBO and really liked it. The acting is superb and the music/score is outstanding. The Blu Ray disc is also excellent. The video and audio are both excellent. Special features are also good. It also comes with a UV digital copy of the movie which is a bonus. Best Buy price was unbeatable. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

This is truly a work of art that shows you how deep some people will go to achieve their dreams. True excellence only comes from endless hours of blood, sweat and tears; in this film we see the boundless energy of a young man pursuing excellence beyond limits. J.K. Simmons absolutely deserved his Oscar for his dynamite performance!

This is a seriously amazing movie. It is really insightful with the music, the characters and plot are REALLY well developed, and then watching it all on 4K quality picture and sound is just an added bonus. Great movie, great buy, cannot go wrong here.

Man, this movie is super intense. Somehow I doubt this is really how music class works in college, but it's an awesome movie with some really intense characters and scenes. I've always been a fan of JK Simmons, and he's awesome in this movie. Miles Davis is also surprisingly great in his role, for an actor whose relatively new to the scene.

Though it's seems like it's hardly the deepest film in terms of themes, days after watching it I'm still thinking about it. Was J.K. Simmon's character abgood guy despite his ferocious approach to teaching? Did Miles Teller's character sacrifice his humanity for the obsessive desire to be a great musician? It leaves you pondering these questions, which is something every great movie should do. As for the experience of watching the film- it's a ride. One moment it can feel slow, and then you realize a long chunk of the film has passed. One moment you can be laughing, and the next you will be terrified. One of the best films of 2014

A really great film in my opinion, combined with a beautifully impressive Steelbook...and as I've said in other reviews I absolutely love the PopArt series. Not to mention it's priced at only $6.99....I bought a few of these for friends/gifting after buying myself one.

Great characters, great story and directing. One of the best films of all in 2014. J.K. Simmons is amazing. And them to pull all this off on such a tiny filming schedule was a feat in itself. You wouldn't think that a film about a college jazz band would be exciting. Let alone interesting but you'd be wrong to think so by the time the credits roll.

This movie is a CLASSIC, J.K. Simmons deserved every award he got for this movie. I am not a huge die hard music fan but I still loved this move. It did leak into my spotify as well because I started listening to more Jazz music like in the movie.

Birdman may have won the academy award for best picture, but whiplash definitely deserved that Oscar (birdman is #2.) whiplash is an exhilarating movie with amazing performances that earned J.K. Simmons the best supporting actor and shows miles tellers true abilities like we've never seen before (both acting and drumming.) a must see for everyone.

This movie far exceeded my expectations. I was not expecting as much humor as was in it. There is a lot of cursing (fair warning) and verbal abuse/bullying (from a teacher) so if that is a rough subject for you I’d avoid this movie. But the acting and the story and cinematography is amazing in this film.
