I have watched the movie a few times on this blu ray disc and I have enjoyed it every time. It is an excellent movie with a unique story. Acting is simply superb by the two lead actors and the soundtrack is excellent. The video and audio are both excellent. It also comes with a bonus digital copy. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite films of all time with an ending that’ll give you goosebumps. Pretty good transfer especially when you realize this movie was shot in HD. Very good looking transfer for an incredible film I highly recommend everyone to watch.

Damien Chazelle‘s Whiplash is an intense and engaging drama with two of the year’s best performances. J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller are beyond committed to their roles – they are possessed by them. The chemistry between these two makes for an incredible power struggle between teacher and student that is thrilling, inspiring, and also unsettling.

greatness! man i cant even describe how good this movie came to be! i didnt want to see it at first because i am not a fan of jazz. JK simmons always shines in everything he is on, he's scary and ruthless, perfect combination for that role

Miles Teller will sadly be known for Fantastic Flop when he really should be remembered for the passion he put into the movie. J.K. Simmons may always be remembered for the characters he plays but he disappears into this role like no other. This movie is painful at times but is still quite amazing and well worth the Oscar buzz.

THIS MOVIE IS JUST FANTASTIC. YOU CAN SEE MORE REVIEWS AT IMDB. I JUST WISH EBAY SELLERS WOULD NOT BUY ALL THE STEELBOOKS AND THEN SCALP THEM ON EBAY THIS MUST END. PUT A LIMIT SAY 2 PER CUSTOMER ON PURCHASES OF STEELBOOKS. SHIP THEM IN BOXES NOT BUBBLE WRAP AS THEY ARE ALWAYS DENTED AND DAMAGED.

A very interesting study of artistic obsession and what it takes to achieve perfection. JK Simmons is at the top of his craft. I only took a star off because the constant abuse in the film makes it sometimes painful to watch. That's the kind of movie I am happy to have seen... and will never watch again. If you are looking for a good time, check out Damien Chazelle's Lalaland instead! Or better, watch both and look for the running themes (jazz, Simmons, etc). ("that's what she said!" noted Michael Scott after reading the title of the review)

Whiplash is about a drummer joining a jazz band, but you don't need to be a huge jazz fan to enjoy the movie. The story is satisfying, picture and sound quality are great. I recommend the steelbook as I think the exclusive cover art is 100% worth it.

I was glad the student (Teller) overcame the brow beating administered by his Music Director (Simmons) and held true to his convictions. In the end he was an elite drummer and Simmons had to acknowledge his talent. Hard to watch the exchange between teacher and student because Simmons was so obnoxious. But a great ending.

When Whiplash originally released it was immediately one of my favorite movies. The excellent acting of Teller and Simmons is made better by each other. The 4K print is well done and is the best way to watch this great flick.

This film deserves more than 5 stars. Expertly written, directed, edited and acted. Whiplash became and instant classic from its premiere date. As it stands, best of the 2010s, best of the year and one of the best of the century so far.

Not a musical. But an excellent movie about music and those who live it. It is a little hard to take the abuse the main character takes from someone trying to mold him to be better. But the story is really good and the music is lots of fun. The movies shows how much work goes into making fantastic music.

This was hands down, the best movie of the year. The story was original and the acting was phenomenal. JK Simmons was unbelievable in his role as a villainous music director. And Miles Teller was amazing as a student under the cruel tutelage of Simmons. In my opinion, this movie should have won Best Picture. Mesmerizing film.

This film was before LA LA LAND and FIRST MAN and it sizzles with intensity thanks to the direction of Damien Chazelle. This was only the second movie he'd directed and it netted an Oscar for co-star J.K. Simmons. Enjoy!

Music student at a famous school is thrown into the world where the expectation is perfection. It's a study of how far can you push someone and balance an education vs just plain cruelty Is being good enough or can you be outstanding. Must you suffer to excel or be great? What lines must be crossed and what is going too far

Its a wonderful but scary movie for those who are planning to study music in a conservatory setting. It is hard to view because the both physical, emotional and psychological roughness of the demands put on serious music students. I am told by professionally trained musicians that this is true to life, not an exaggeration.

I was impressed with both the acting and especially the music. Being a former drummer myself, I gained a whole new respect for jazz drummers. That style definitely blows the doors off of rock drummers; it's much more difficult to play than rock! I highly recommend this movie to musicians in general.

This was one of my favorite movies of 2014 and I purchased it on Blu-ray as soon as it was released. And then of course, as soon as this 4K UHD release hit shelves I had to upgrade my copy. This 4k HDR release is stellar!

I am a University Professor in the arts, and this movie is one of the toughest examples of what motivating young students should/shouldn't be. Without a doubt one of the best movies I've ever seen, and a highly recommended version of it on Blu-Ray and Digital HD. All this before LA LA LAND.

If you are a musician or a lover of music, this one's for you. I bought on a humbug, $9.99 for the 4k. How could I go wrong. I haven't opened the movie yet but I saw it on pluto tv with commercials. I sure some parts were cut but what did see was enthralling. The commitment to pursuing your craft is unparalleled and often full of regrets but for those who succeed in their quest, the reward is unfathomable.
