    Beautiful Steelbook and Intense Movie!

I love this steelbook, it's very affordable and it looks very nice. The movie is also an adrenaline ride. There is a relentless intensity to the movie where the speed of the drumming and the instructor stressed me out. The music is also outstanding. For this price, worth picking up even if you have never seen the movie!

image This was a really good movie. This was a story that showed what some people would do just to get "there". Whether it's severing friendships, sacrificing your body and sleep through strenuous practice or losing your dignity through embarrassment, some will do anything to get where they want to be and to be noticed by the right people for their own progression. This was a movie about a young boy desiring to become a recognized drummer at almost any cost. Miles Teller does an excellent job and J.K. Simmons as well being an absolute jerk! The music in this is not only enjoyable but electrifying and I recommend not only this movie but the soundtrack as well. The language in this is really rough but definitely worth the watch for not just music lovers but for general audiences too.

The movie itself is fantastic, if you haven't seen it then do yourself a favor and pop it in. The real reason I Purchased this though is for the Steelbook itself, as a collector I take pride in looking at these steelbooks and this one is a pretty awesome one. It's simple but in the best way possible.

One of my favorite movies! So glad they released it on 4K Blu-ray! It's was a must have addition to my 4K Blu-ray collection! My Sony 75x940e, UBP-X800M2, and HT-Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar are perfect for watching all of my favorite movies!! Especially since we've all been mostly stuck at home this year!

This was a pleasant surprise. We thought JK Simmons was beyond his talent in this little movie that was about a beginning musician who ran into a tornado of a music teacher (played by JK Simmons). We were comfortable with JK Simmons in his insurance salesman role on TV. But the movie showed that he can step out of the "nice" person selling insurance role, and assume someone who is a little mad and domineering. Miles Teller played an outstanding role as the beginning drummer , who drove himself to be one of the aspiring musicians in the elite school run by Terence Fletcher (JK Simmons). Don't miss this little gem that gives you hope that outstanding movies can still be made on a limited budget with really good actors.

Brilliant performances from JK Simmons and Miles Teller. The use of the drums methodically keeps an amazing rhythm throughout this movie. The intensity is real and you clutch your chair watching it. While I’ve heard the movie hits some “notes” for people who grew up in music it kept me thoroughly entertained all throughout.

I saw Damien Chazelle's film "La La Land" before seeing "Whiplash". He is one of the few current directors who deserve all the praise they are getting. While Miles Teller is the lead actor, J.K. Simmons as the music teacher steals all the scenes. Worth checking out, in my opinion.

This movie was such a wonderful surprise when I first saw it. I didn't expect it to be such an enjoyable film, but the story and acting are superb. I know some musicians have panned it as unrealistic from a technical point of view, but while those are valid observations, you can say the same about nearly any fictional movie. It's a real treat to have this on Blu-ray.

If you're looking for a movie review, go to iMBD. I'm here to talk about the product: steelbook. For only $6, this has to be the best movie purchase you can make. It's a great movie, in a beautiful steelbook for a price lower than some DVDs. A must have for any movie watcher to disc collector.

    Full Metal Drumsticks

This film is raw. Often brutal. But always captivating, all the way up until the last scene. I see this jazz set movie as a pressure cooker situation very akin to Full Metal Jacket - except set to a speedy and complicated jazz tone. Steelbook on this is rather cool. Artwork is simple but fitting for the film - for once, lately, I don't have a gripe on the art.

I really enjoyed this fictional story depicting tension between an aspiring jazz drummer student and his demanding/unorthodox music school instructor set in NY. This HD disc is a good value. (I have since purchased a copy in 4K/UHD, but I could have settled with the Blu-ray.) This steelbook arrived in the mail with a dent on the case, but my disc wasn’t at all damaged. At $5.99, I didn’t want to return. That is a risk. An in-store pickup might address the concern of purchasing online.

First off, this movie is not for everyone. Emotionally charged, Whiplash takes us through the process of a misguided teacher trying to pull virtuoso performances out of truly gifted student musicians using a sadistic Jekyll and Hyde manipulation of their psyche. The result is students with tortured souls pushing the limits of both their physical and mental fortitude.

We had seen La La Land first and wanted to see what had led to it being made. The movie is very intense and does represent the teaching methods of some. Also be sure to view the bonus items, especially the interviews with many different drummers. A real education in to Jazz drumming.

    Amazing Jazz Drumming Movie

The movie was amazing, although there was a ton of vulgarity. Aside from that, the features offered on the Blu-Ray were great. (Commentaries, Making of, interviews with many famous drummers and lots of special features included) A great line-up of jazz music/drum songs fill the entirety of the movie. As with any Blu-Ray disc, the quality of the visual content is crisp, clear and full.

I preferred the packaging on the blu-ray steelbook edition, which looked like a cymbal, but this one is pretty good. Wasn't sure what the transition to HDR would do for this one, but I was really impressed. Sounds amazing, too.

Love this movie. This is a must watch. I have watched it more times than I can count so I ordered the 4K steel book. The only issue I have is it came with a dented case which seems all too common with these steel books. I messed around until it was too late to return for a undamaged one.

Again, one of the best films of 2014! If you ever studied music or were/are a music major you will completely relate to the subject matter of this film. Of course, I would assume that your experience was probably not so extreme! Nevertheless, the musicianship in the film is so engaging that you will be glued to the screen and gripping the couch in anxiety especially at the end climax.

As well as being a great film, the picture is fantastic as a 4k HDR scale. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is incredible. With a movie highly focused on editing, it’s great. A must-have for anyone wanting a great film as well as something to push their 4k television.

This is one of my favorite movies and I just had to have it when I found out they made a steelbook for it! I kept watching for about 6 months to see if it was in stock and it finally was, so I quickly purchased it and I'm so thankful I did. The art is awesome and the movie is perfection!

Whiplash really centers on the idea of obsession. You have a teacher who is obsessed with his band being the best, and you have a student who is obsessed with impressing his teacher and being the best drummer. The entire movie is essentially a play on this. The teacher pushes the student further and further and the student refuses to bend or break. Overall the movie is good and it's definitely worth a watch. The only reason I would feel particularly inclined to rewatch it would be for J K Simmons fantastic performance. I'd definitely put it on your "must-see" list, but I don't know if I'd call it a "must-own".
