Very entertaining movie. I'm not a big jazz musician at all, but enjoyed the premise a lot. JK Simmons was perfect. He definitely deserved an Oscar for this. The big drumming sessions really made me feel like I was there and actually made me tired from just watching him do it! Great music, very good movie.

This was a very well acted film and was worthy of the praise heaped upon it. You really feel these characters - especially the two leads. Awesome sound quality and video transfer is solid. I intentionally waited to see this on blu-ray for the 1st time rather than cable.

This film was nominated for a billion awards for good reason. The acting is excellent, especially Simmons who is intimidating and dynamic in the lead role. I don't particularly care for jazz music, but I enjoyed the music in the film. The story is fast-paced and enjoyable!

Simply one of the best movies from 2014, led by an amazing performance from J.K. Simmons. When I saw the movie in theaters, the crowd burst into applause as the credits rolled. This disc features the original short, which is interesting to see where the story started.

I had heard good things about this movie, so I took a chance and bought it. I didn't realize until the credits rolled—and I found myself relaxing—that I had been tense throughout the entire film. JK Simmons was fantastic. The Oscar was well-deserved.

as a musician I related to the drive and determination of the characters. As a person who does artist developement this behavior seems extreme to some but was still authentic . This was a great movie from start to finish. A masterpiece

Performances were fantastic. The drama is realistic and never melodramatic. If you like well done character driven movies that are propelled by a great story and plenty of conflict then look no further. This is a must see.

I can see why this movie won an Oscar for best supporting actor. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. This movie is about a music school teacher and his students but it had so much to offer. It was absolutely amazing!

Out of all the movies I saw in 2014, this is by far the best in my opinion. It's my favorite of that year as well. It's entertaining and the characters are fun to watch. Definitely a must-see.

Whiplash is a fantastically fast paced film that leaves the viewer feeling like they are watching an action film. A wonderful performance by Simmons and Teller. Go get this today.

This is hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen. This is what you call masterful story telling, and acting. It doesn't really get much better than this.

If you like Jazz, thrillers or good storytelling you will get all three in what I believe to be the best film of 2014. I was literally shaking at the end.

This movie drew me in from the opening scene, but I had to leave for work before I saw the end. J.K. Simmons seems perfect for his role. I bought the Blu Ray and I need to find time to see the last 30 mins. Great story so far.....
