Jury still out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this Whirlpool to replace the nine-year-old one in the house we bought four years ago. I was delighted with the old one -- easy to use, easy to keep clean, even heating. But suddenly, in the middle of warming a side dish for dinner, it stopped cold. Rather than trying to have it repaired, we headed to BestBuy and bought a new one. This new one works about the same way, but feels stiff and more awkward to use. The Start button requires a super hard push. The door sounds flimsier when it shuts, with effort at that. All the buttons feels generally "cheaper," like corners were cut. On the whole, it feels like something I might buy for half the price at a discount store. It's noisy from the clanging door to a louder beeps and operating sound. At least, so far, it does warm food. My fingers are crossed that it will WORK, and work for more than 367 days. My real beef is with the trim kit. The old one was solid metal, sturdy and attractive and fit evenly around the unit. The new one is thin, cheap plastic with a veneer of stainless steel about as thick as heavy-duty foil on the front. The sides are dark plastic. It's a stark contrast to the fully formed, wrap-around trim around the old Whirlpool oven below it. Furthermore, although we used the trim kit exactly as instructed, the oven does not sit squarely in the opening. It's noticeably lower on the bottom, with more space above. We expected installing the new one would take less than an hour, so opted to do it ourselves. It took the two of us working together over three hours involving half the tools in the garage and lots of ingenuity to lower the bottom opening .3". I cringe to think of having to redo that work or pay someone else to spare us the effort if this fails! I did call customer service to inquire about the cheesy "one size fits all" trim kit. Surprise! After a 29.5 minute wait, the pleasant woman cordially told me she doesn't know squat and I should visit the website or an appliance store for more information. My sense of things is that Whirlpool quality is slipping in every respect. I've been a loyal customer for decades, but that loyalty just snapped. I'll be looking for manufacturers who produce SUSTAINABLE products, not ones built to last just until the warranty expires. No, at this point I do not recommend this product.

Posted .Hello . We are constantly working to improve our appliances and our service, and it is only through feedback from customers like you that we are able to do so. We have documented all of the concerns you have mentioned, for review by our managers and engineers. Our managers and engineers do regularly review our files, to look for areas in which we can improve our products. We know that can be disheartening; especially when you have just purchased a new and you have high expectations for it. We’re sorry that we are not meeting/delivering these expectations.

Disappointed in typically great brand!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About two days after we purchased this product, the second number on the display went out. This made the facts worse that not only do the shades of black not match the rest of my Whirlpool appliances but the digital displays do not match either- the oven is a darker blue than the microwave. Also, when the timer goes off, the beep is loud and very annoying. I think it is because I expect to stop the beeping when the door is opened or the "stop" button is pushed but the beep has a full cycle to complete and it will not stop for anything!! If I don't want to hear all those mind ringing beeps I have to stop it before it gets to zero. The door is very flimsy feeling when shutting and doesn't seem like it is very high quality. Whirlpool is my favorite appliance normally. I am disappointed in this one though.

Trying Once More
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, this microwave is working as it should. It is a replacement (same make and model) for one included in our new house that went bad after 13 months, with LED clock/timer lights going out (12 month warrantee). Bought 3year extended warrantee with this one.

Door sticks, microwaves dishware rather than food
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This microwave seemed like a good fit for our built in space. With trim kit it would work great. We have had it for less than a year and the door sticks everytime. It has a push button to open and you have to push it 10 times hoping it will eventually open. Also, noticed it has started cooking our bowls and plates to extreme temperatures while the food stays cold. We have had same dishware at another house with different microwave and never had a problem. Currently on a 45 minute hold with Best Buy customer service to see if we can get a refund! Dont waste your money

Whirlpool needs to make better quality products
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We moved into a new house with a Whirlpool countertop microwave that was built into a wall directly above the oven, face high. The Whirlpool lasted 4 1/2 years. We had no choice but to buy the same model so it would fit. Had a Whirlpool microwave in our former house which also only lasted about 4 years. Would had bought another brand if I could have found one with the same measurements.

3rd one in 10yrs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do your research! This is the brand we went with when building our home in 2013. Fridge, range, oven, microwave, dishwasher. Every one of them has required multiple repairs or replacement. Back to this microwave- this will be the 3rd purchase in 10 years. Why keep getting the same one? Because I'm stuck with my specific wall opening and trim kit, and won't remodel for a microwave... Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-air, are ALL under the Whirlpool umbrella. And NONE of these brands are as good as they once were. Do your research. I would have gladly spent more for a better brand up front, had I done mine. Modern appliances have an 8-10 yr average life (very sad) and in my direct experience, Whirlpool are on the very low end.

Cheap builder grade, don't expect it to last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This came with our house. From the beginning, occasionally when you try to turn it on, a message flashes on the panel saying "DOOR". So I open it then shut it and it worked. Not worth a service call, but I guess I should have. Now a little over 2 years old, and it flashes and pops when trying to use it, so I'll have to replace it. I'm tempted to get the same one, just because it's so cheap ($209.99) vs. the kitchenaide at $499. Definately not worth repairing. I gave it 3 stars just because of the low price.

Whirlpool makes okay microwaves

Junk from China
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very unhappy! We bought this microwave a little over 2 years ago and it no longer works! The buttons had stop working sporadically. One day you might be able to get the #1 or #3 to work then the next day they won't. Now, in addition to all of the buttons not working every day, the start button will not work at all! We have used this microwave very lightly - maybe once a day to heat a cup of coffee or a quick reheat of a meal. Very disappointment!

DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As one might learn from the previous reviews, this microwave is a guaranteed waste of money! Less than 2 years of use and the touchpad renders this microwave COMPLETELY USELESS!! I tried to find the touchpad replacement part online to fix it myself, and low and behold, not a single one to be found. So I decide I shall try and call the parts department to see if they have any replacement parts and no luck. Whirlpool only holds 3 replacement parts for this microwave, the glass plate, the ring that the plate sits on, and the plastic piece that spins the plate, THAT'S IT!!! I tried to call regular customer service after to get some form of compensation for an obvious deflective microwave and I was told that there was nothing to be done. WHIRLPOOL, YOU SHOULD BE A SHAME OF YOURSELF!! Clearly they have a defective product that they refuse to make/sell replacement parts for and they still have the audacity to continue to sell this lemon of a microwave. This product, along with the lack of replacement parts and the lack of service to justify/rectify this most regrettable purchase has completely turned myself away, along with anyone I know who I will now tell to NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AGAIN!! Shame Whirlpool, Shame.
