Whirlpool offered to pay up to the price of the microwave to have it serviced, any more would be out of pocket. Cost of service visit travel, parts, and labor would have been just under 3x cost of unit. Decided to replace with a different brand.

The cooking and the mechanism of the opening and closing of the door (not what I'm used to). my older one was much quieter, it was ready to be installed so i could not return it... you get what you last for i suppose.
