Will last you about 4 years without repairs

Purchased this fridge about 4 years ago for about $1000. Now the control and thermostat went out costing me $665 for labor and parts together. Beautiful fridge. Don’t look for it to last long without repairs. On the flip side, that just might be todays time all together, nothing is built to last.

Two service calls in first six weeks

This is a very attractive refrigerator and fits nicely in my space. That's the good part. Within 24 hours water was pooling under a storage drawer in the fridge portion. A service tech came out and made adjustments to the freezer door, ran diagnostics and the issue was resolved. Fast forward three weeks later and the freezer was frosting badly. Another service call revealed cracks in the freezer liner. After consulting with whirlpools tech line my tech applied liner tape to the cracks. He remarked that one of the cracks appeared to have been painted over. After complaining directly to whirlpool I was offered a six month extension of my warranty. I was expecting more and am frankly disappointed. I purchased an entire bundle of whirlpool appliances with this fridge. Crossing my fingers they don't fail.

    Lasted all of 4 years

Bought previous model 4 1/2 years ago. Water line to icemaker failed at 4 years and, a few weeks later, a moaning sound started. The repair person could replace the water line but the moaning sound was caused by a failing compressor. Cost to repair: over $1000. Whirlpool has the part listed at almost $600. Such a major part should be under warranty for over the standard one year, but Whirlpool said "no way" to paying any part of this. So we'll get a new fridge instead, but not a Whirlpool.

Compressor broke 1 month after delivery

Refrigerator purchased new, delivered 4/12/24. 4 days ago (1 month after delivery), compressor broke. $70-80 spoiled food. Told it will be about a week to get a new compressor and then have to schedule a service visit. They refused to replace the appliance nor reimburse for spoiled food. Poor product, poor customer service. Would avoid this product, Whirlpool appliances.

I bought this as an exact replacement to the same broken one I bought 1 year and 2 months prior from Best Buy. Whirlpool is aware that it has cooling issues, but will not replace it in a timely manner nor will Best Buy. Whirlpool had me we wait 7 weeks and then they still couldn’t tell me when I would arrive. I then purchased this and got it in 2 days from Best Buy. AWFUL. DO NOT BUY.

When you spend almost 2K on a new fridge you would think it would be a little descent… everything about this fridge is CHEAP! Flimsy everything filters to keep things fresh do not fit at all so just toss them straight in the trash and save you’re self the headache of trying to make them fit!! Does anyone make Quality anymore or is it just all about the dollar!!

    Big Disappointment

I am very disappointed with the refrigerator. I did have to buy it sight unseen because of the size requirement of space, but I never expected such a cheaply made Whirlpool product. The only thing nice about it is the outside appearance. The inside light is only one small bulb. The inside shelves are full width, so there is no way to adjust the sides separately to accommodate different sizes of items. Only one adjustment can be made, and that causes loss of one half of a shelf. Don't even think about buying anything tall. Even a 16 ounce soft drink bottle can't stand. The drawers are very cheaply made and constantly come off the tracks. The drawer for meat and cheese is only a couple of inches tall, and items in front have to be removed to reach items in the back. Both sections of the freezer have permanent dividers, so it is impossible to store a frozen pizza flat or upright. Do not buy if you want usable space. I am disappointed with it every day.

    Door replacement after 2 years

I bought this fridge since space is limited in my kitchen. I bought it in May 2018 (2 years ago) and it already needs the entire right side door replaced due to a defect within the door panel that makes the door unable to close unless manually lift it up while shutting it. Apparently this is a known issue yet Whirlpool will not cover the cost of a brand new door which is $600 ($400 for the door, $240 for service call and labor. I would expect a $1,700 fridge to not need any major repairs for at least 5 years. Buyer beware!
