It’s Energy Star efficient, it works fine, it fits in our small kitchen, and was not too expensive. But it’s super noisy when it is running. The motor hums loudly and it makes gurgly, growly noises. Sometimes wakes me up in the night when it turns on.

Three years after purchase, the compressor broke down but it was covered by a limited warranty for up to five years according to the documents it came with. After 3 attempts to call Whirlpool and being placed on “hold” for at least 20 minutes each time, I was still unable to get connected to a local authorized repair company. With another call to Whirlpool and a 30-minute wait, someone finally answered and gave me the name and numbers of 2 repair companies. But when I called them, they said they needed a repair ticket number from Whirlpool and I need to call Whirlpool back because they themselves have difficulty communicating with Whirlpool. Rather. Than deal with the headaches, we opted to purchase another fridge. And that’s just what we think Whirlpool wanted us to do so that they don’t need to honor their warranty.

This is mostly my fault, as I did not consider how much a 5'11" person would need to bend to place or access items within the unit. I will purchase a refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom next time.
