Our last refrigerator was almost 25 years old when when it stopped working. We went to our local Best Buy to shop for a replacement and we decided on this one. It has a nice large top freezer which I really love and the refrigerator is nice and wide also with plenty of room. We're very happy with the size, however, it's the electrical aspect of the unit that has left us very disappointed. After just 8 months of use we noticed it wasn't cooling like it should. We contacted Best Buy and they gave us the number to Whirlpool. Long story short...repair man came out but since there was a thick build up of ice inside the back wall of the freezer he couldn't tell the exact problem but he knew it would definitely be one of 3 parts. We had to leave the fridge unplugged for about 36 hours to give the ice time to melt at that time we were able to plug it back in and use it like normal while we waited for the parts to come in. A week and a half later the repair man came back out... in that short period of time ice was already building up again. He diagnosed the problem as the circuit board. He replaced it and so far so good. I'm not really comfortable enough to recommend the product to someone else and it makes me question Whirlpool products which is a shame because Whirlpool has always been a trusted name.

Water was collecting in the fridge. It was not staying sufficiently cool. Frost began accumulating in the freezer. Best Buy said they could do nothing to help me. Whirlpool made me wait on hold for about 45 minutes and gave me a phone number of a service company to call. It turned out to be the wrong phone number. Now im back at square one. Needless to say I'm not happy with either Best Buy or Whirlpool.

We bought this fridge in stainless steel. We have an old kitchen and space was an issue. Liked the large freezer in this model. When we got it, I noticed gasket in freezer was sagging a lot. Best Buy was going to send tech out, however after 24 hours of being plugged in for initial setup, the fridge never got below 50 degrees, my thermometer was in fridge the whole time. Best Buy offered a replacement, which we accepted. New one came today, and delivery person said it was more defective than the first one. The freezer door gasket was sagging again, and it had visible glue along all edges of the freezer door. So back in went the least of the defective fridges. Even when turning the dial colder the fridge never reached below 43 degrees. In the meantime we wasted a lot of time, being home for delivery, and taking all food out twice to put in coolers. Not sure how Best Buy is going to resolve this, but you can be sure we will never touch a whirlpool appliance again.

Love the stainless steel look but the fridge is really big for what I wanted

Exactly what we needed as our replacement refrigerator. When you open the door it is easy to see all that you have on the shelves.

Although a little smaller in capacity, it is the right size for the current kitchen space.

Does the job, but shoddier and louder than its predecessors.

The humming from the refrigerator motor is high pitched which has taken time to get use to it. It’s still annoying and learning to ignore it. Otherwise it works fine, better than my old one. The delivery men were great. Kudos to the team.

Totally meets my food & freezer needs PERFECT !!!!

It is a very simple refrigerator which is what I was looking for. It has glass shelves which are a plus. It worked immediately upon plugging it in and runs smooth and quietly. it was also priced reasonably.

This fridge is ridiculously noisy -- almost as loud as a dishwasher! I don't have a professional decibel meter, so I used a phone app. To give some credibility of noise level to my review, I measured the sound level 3 feet in front of a brand new Maytag dishwasher at 40db. In comparison, this Whirlpool measured 38db and 65db when the freezer door is open. Wish I had known. Unfortunately, ConsumerReports does not provide numerical noise levels, nor do manufacturers in their specs sheets. Defective unit? No. I discovered after my purchase my neighbor has the _same_model_ and is _just_as_noisy_. I don't need a fridge with bells & whistles, but I ended up with all that noise anyway. Trust me: If you can have your old fridge repaired, do so. They don't make them like they used to. This fridge replaced a Whirlpool model ET1CHKXKQ03 I purchased 22 years ago -- same price range but had split, see-through shelves (try finding that nowadays in a top-freezer model) and was quiet. I successfully recharged it a year ago, but it recently needed another, so I figured being I was so pleased with my Whirlpool I'd buy another. BIG MISTAKE! Couldn't tolerate the noise so I got rid of it. BTW, BB only has a 48 hour return window and NOT for buyer's remorse. A manufacturer can claim the noise level is normal, so do your homework before purchasing a new fridge, albeit it's difficult to select a quiet one without hearing it in action or based on product reviews... like this one. Don't buy this fridge!

Price was right but actually don’t have it yet so not 100% sure of functionality.

I am lucky! Got 6 years out of this poorly made refrigerator. To start, the sides (guess you call them seals) are never fully aligned. It stays closed but really have to push to ensure. Now, the freezer works and gets cold but it now creates a huge block of ice. Why is easter leaking in the back of freezer? If I don’t chip away at it, it will leak to the fridge. So, I emptied it out and did some research. I cleaned the little drain (gets dusty bc they use cheap particle board to cover the fan). The fan is clean and works properly. Still, water continues to creat a long ice block in freezer. Not normal!! So we now have to buy a new one. I wouldn’t dare purchase another whirlpool. I just don’t find them reliable. Lastly, for $849- put a freaking light in the freezer. It’s so cheap folks!!

We’ve had trouble with this refrigerator from one month in. It’s mostly the freezer part where it gets so frozen over that the lines clog and water drips down into the refrigerator part. And we have a cup to catch it. I read online that this was known to happen with this model. To this day still have problems and not sure what I can do about it. So disappointing

Freezer didn't work on the first fridge; I got a new one. Freezer works in the 2nd new fridge but there is so much condensation occurring in fridge and all that water is now being caught in drawers & on shelves. The part is on back order in warehouses so now I am supposed to wait for possible months and then we don't know if that is the problem.

It was good while it lasted. Bought it in 2020. Sadly, it just stopped working yesterday. Repairing it would cost more than a new fridge.

Great refrigerator. No problems or issues. Wanted an ice maker to go with it but could not find it online to order with delivery.
