    Humming fridge

Bought the stainless monochromatic one as that's the only one that will fit in our tiny little space where fridge is designated. We couldn't do the standard 36" (width) It is not quite counter flushed. It comes out as around 31.5-32. Plenty of storage inside. I like it. The fridge looks sleek and modern. we have not hooked up the water and ice maker so I can't comment on that just yet but they were right about it being loud! For a new modern fridge, that is a little disappointing. It hums louder than our old beat up top freezer fridge. I mean it is not humming all the time it would have its quiet time but it happens often. Why whirlpool?? Would I recommend? sure. Especially if you are limited with the size options.

Beautiful refrigerator. Mine does not make no noise loke thw other reviews and the i e machine keeps up fine. I would not say it is small but it is about medium size big enough for a small family. The shelves are adjustable ( take one out to make the opening bigger)

Noise fix - worked for me

I just had this fridge installed today. I bought it as part of a Whirlpool suite. The first thing we noticed was how loud it was. It was so loud that I was willing to exchange it for another brand and have mismatch appliances. I was about to purchase noise absorbing foam panels to attach to the wall behind the fridge when I decided to see if I could fix it one last time. I pulled it away from the wall and I discovered that if I loosened the screws holding on the cardboard cover it helped tremendously! The horribly loud buzzing noise stopped and it sounds normal! It now just has a normal level hum. I’m so excited that I just had to share this info and hopefully it will help for yours too.

Too many issues to give it a better rating.

We've had this refrigerator for a few months now and I'm on the verge of regretting buying it. Our space is limited so the size of this unit is perfect, however, it isn't configured to use its relatively limited space in anything close to an efficient way. The shelves are where they are; you can only remove them (no optional height adjustments). The door bins are adjustable, but they're deep and you all but have to use one them for gallon containers (while sacrificing room above so can get jugs out). The top shelf is the only place which allows taller items, but the light fixture and the 'cooling port' take up significant amounts of that limited space (no to mention the fact that anything left directly in line with the 'port' will be frozen by the cold air). The water dispenser in the door discharges warm (tap temp) water, which isn't a huge deal but why not cold? And finally, the noise from the compressor is obnoxious! Seriously, we replaced a refrigerator that was made in the 80s and this new unit is 3 times louder! It 'growls'/hums and runs so frequently that it's starting to get on my nerves. There's nothing wrong with it, per se, but I really wish we could have done a try-it-before-you-buy-it. I guess we learned a lesson from this one.

    Loud noise

I just received my Whirlpool 21.4 on Friday 12/13 and I must say after having a Kenmore for over 20 years this refrigerator is loud operation. I can understand the ice maker but it makes another noise that’s loud . I’m trying now also to adjust the temperature for both sides. I would recommend this unit if you need a refrigerator that’s not more then 66 inches that goes under a cabinet.

Looks nice but too small inside

I have a small refrigerator alcove and am limited for options. Smaller models aren’t available to see in store, so I ordered online based on written specs and availability. I wanted a side-by-side with ice maker, and this fit the space. I should have stuck with top freezer and no ice maker. Shelves in this model are not very deep. They’re also not adjustable. Although this is slightly larger than my previous fridge, it holds much less. Water dispenser is cold for only one glass of water. Ice maker is very noisy, compared with others I’ve had in other places. The interior lighting is great, though. Fridge looks nice in the alcove.

    Refrigerator has issues

The shelves on the refrigerator side are not adjustable. The metal can shelf on door is a waste. The freezer side is small as the ice maker and water duspenser taje up a aignificant amount of freezer storage. The exterior is very skeek.

The whirlpool washer and dryer were great. The refrigerator seems to be doing fine we had a problem with it freezing on the top shelf, but we just made an adjustment to what we put on the top shelf.

I've owned this refrigerator for a few years. It's small but I had to buy this refrigerator because of space limitations. No positive comments on it. Drawers feel cheap. Too easy for temperature in freezer and refrigerator to change when someone is getting water or ice from outside dispenser (controls are just above the dispenser and all it takes it a touch and it changes). This happens several times a week. Even when at recommended temperature in refrigerator, items near the back can freeze. Ice dispenser is slow and frequently clogs. I do not recommend this refrigerator.

A real winner for 1 thousand bucks!

Excellent frig for 1k bucks. Got this May 2023. Runs silently, great lighting, you must allow 160 degrees door swing clearance to access the full interior depth. Ignore the whiners about frozen pizzas. Plenty of room to fit 4-5 tall bottles (and many small ones) by adjusting the door shelves. From top to bottom; Shelf heights are very suitable for milk/juice bottles on the top shelf and many medium/small items just below (at eye level) Then, frig is deep enough to fit 12 quart yogurt/dairy containers on a single shelf! On the bottom 3 levels, very good frig drawers for fruits/veges/small packages. Freezer is rather typical for side by sides. Since I cook so much, I also have a 5 cu ft chest freezer (been doing that for 25 yrs). If you "can't /won't" use this Frig/freezer, the problem is your kitchen NOT this appliance.

    Solid Performer for Tight Spaces

The compressor in our 2011 LG french door fridge went out and I discovered that local appliance store do not fix samsung or LG appliances, and it would take three weeks for LG to get someone out to do the job. Had to get Black Stainless Steel and it had to fit in space less than 35 inches wide and had to have water/ice outside the door. So that limits what is available. We could have gotten a french door design but refuse to pay over $2k for a fridge so this is the best option we could find. We miss the space of the french door design and having the freezer down below. But the shelves are much bigger than expected and we are now using them to store more than on the shelves. The color matches our samsung oven well and the unit looks classy by itself. The ice maker is larger than an in-door unit, though is louder as you heard the cubes drop. Interior lighting is fantastic with lights at top and bottom. While the front is black stainless steel, the top and sides are glossy black - not an issue with us but may be for some with an exposed side in trying to match appliances. The water filter is on the very bottom and front of the fridge which is not the most convenient location. The water / ice dispenser will take some getting used to as it is tough to see which is which and the water dispenser is a small indentation in front of the larger ice lever - been a few accidents;) A final nit is the bottom door hinges are exposed (i.e. not covered in black) - wife noticed but I did not. Delivery / install was ok. Guys came at 1030 for a 12-4 appointment (they called 30 minutes before and said they were coming, but still...). Install went well and though we bought a new water line kit just in case, they were able to use the one I had installed a year ago and we received a refund within a few days. Looked good when they left but when I got home to inspect I found plastic wrapping along front door edges (wife said she was told nothing they could do and was advised to use a toothpick to cram the plastic into door creases). There was styrofoams bits all over the floor. Our first ice drop included a large chuck of styrofoam so we pulled the bin and spent a few minutes picking/washing out styrofoam bits. So lost one star for poor installation. We still miss the space & ease of use of our french door unit. But it looks nice and functions well, and at half the cost of the french door unit we are pleased with the unit.

Our kitchen cabinets prevented us from getting a fridge taller than 68 inches, so we were limited to only a few options. We chose the Whirlpool and decided to return it because it was loud, the shelves felt cheap, and the ice maker overflowed with ice. I decided to remove the cabinet and get a larger fridge. The Samsung we bought cost twice as much but feels higher to be of higher quality and is quieter.

I bought this refrigerator because it would actually fit in the space in my house. Sadly most manufacturers do not make a refrigerator with this type of measurements, so you don't really have a lot of options if this is all the room you have in your kitchen. Cannot believe how badl y this is designed. A tall glass does not fit under the ice dispenser. There's also a separate water dispenser that barely gets water into your glass. That makes no sense. As far as the interior, the shelves are not adjustable. On top of that the top shelf does not leave enough room to put like juice bottles or 2 liter soda bottle, just more indicative of the poor design. I don't care if the shelfs are not adjustable but at least leave a shelf where you can place taller items. If there was any other brand that would fit in the space I had, I definitely would not have bought this model.
