Customers consistently note the 24" Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub's quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance. Many appreciate its capacity and ease of use, along with the attractive design. However, some find the cycle times lengthy and the silverware basket somewhat small.

The silverware clip broke when trying to put the silverware basket in another location of the dw. Because our silverware must be larger than many other reviewers it doesn't work as well for us as our other Maytag did (that one lasted a year before the electronics went out) The clip for the silverware is a tight fit that I would assume is to allow it to be placed in another position and stay. Unfortunately it was so tight I couldn't work it and it broke.
We tend to place small items in the silverware basket and couldn't get our hands in to get it out, so opened the basket and the clip broke. If you use the dw for small items, this might be a problem.
Other than that, the DW works well at cleaning. Not as well as our other dishwasher, but I wasn't willing to shell out the same dollars for the new dishwashers with the electronics that seem to have issues after a short period of time. Doesn't seem to matter the make. This one is not as quiet as our other one even though it is supposed to be. Not sure what the difference is there. We will probably add some more insulation to see if we can subdue some of the extra noise.
I can fit a lot of dishes in the machine and lots of larger things. All come out clean using sensor wash. I like the top rack is easily adjustable up or down.
Best Buy was great to work with. Matched a sale price from another store. We did purchase the extended warranty. With the expensive issues with electronics figured it would be inexpensive insurance. If the machine can make it past the one or two year mark, it will probably last.

We have owned several Kenmore Elite dishwashers which were made by Whirlpool. The recent model does not dry very well. The silverware and dishes are still damp after a heated drying.

I really didn't want a new dishwasher, but my old one could not be fixed. I read reviews and checked them out in the stores and finally gave in a bought this one, hoping I wouldn't be unhappy. Well, I am so happy with this amazing dishwasher there aren't enough words. The flexibility of movable tines makes it a dream to load, and everything comes out clean and dry, even plastic. I think running hot water before starting the
dishwasher, using a rinse agent, and adding Sani Rinse, Heat Dry, and Hi
Temp Wash to the cycle you choose helps with the drying processes. The
cycles are long, so I run it at night before I go to bed. It's so quiet you have to stand right on top of it to hear it and it's barely noticeable.
Love, love, love this dishwasher.

Good washer, but short lifespan

Replacing a similar Whirlpool model that only lasted 18 months - beware if you finance for 36 mos, and consider the extended protection plan. When it works, the dishwasher is quiet and cleans well. Best Buy free delivery used to include install and recycle, but now you're on your own for these, so beware if you think free delivery includes any installation - and good luck if you ever have to talk to customer service for BBY - terrible. Otherwise, good unit.

the appliance may be great, but I wouldn't know. First, it didn't fill. Now, it won't drain. I paid Best Buy the install charge and now I wait for Best Buy to arrange to have the machine installed properly so that I may attempt to use it for its intended purpose.

Junk in a pretty wrapper

Positive, fairly quiet, comes in 3 colors.
NEGATIVE: Door does NOT have a latch, it simply pushes shut and PULLS to open and is going to break the plastic 'handle'.
Wash cycles take minimum 2.5 HOURS! Add sani rinse or heated dry and get 45 minutes added to wash time. Only the '1 hour' cycle is reasonable but you can't add sani rinse and heated dry puts total time to 2+ hours.
The silverware tray is so narrow that we can only fit 5 place settings and no other serving ware fits with that.
Because the silverware tray is located in the front of the rack, space is limited for larger pans. 2 rows of luncheon plates barely fit, and 2 rows of full size dinner plates do not fit.
I bought this on sale and I will be returning it. This product will not last 5 years!

Broke before I could use it

We bought this product when remodeling our home. The unit leaked water on its very first use. By the time it was installed and used it was beyond Best Buy's return period, so we went through Whirlpool's warranty service. They sent one of their contracted service technicians to inspect the dishwasher. Our personal contractor, his plumber who installed the unit, and Whirlpool's own contracted technician all said that to attempt a repair would create even more problems for the machine. Whirlpool's technician even said that he could not in good conscience repair the machine because he knows it would only make it worse. Whirlpool refused to replace the device and insisted on a repair. I am not willing to risk my newly remodeled kitchen on what Whirlpool says over the phone when three different technicians (including their own) who saw it in person all said repairs should not be attempted. We will just have to abandon this machine, call it a loss, and never buy a Whirlpool product again.

Lasted about 19 months before breaking

Not worth the price, by any stretch, in terms of longevity or overall quality. Cleaned dishes "ok", but not as well as my older, less expensive, lower-end Whirlpool that lasted the better part of 8 years before needing service. Paid extra for a 'nice' dishwasher and got mediocre cleaning by comparison to the older/cheaper model. The only things this one had over the old was looks and sound. Better looking and quieter. Of course, it's super quiet now that it's broken and leaving a hole in my bank account as a form of thanks for purchasing an upscale model from Whirlpool that lasted a tick over a year and a half. Warranty is limited to 1 year, so buyer beware on an expensive purchase. Plan for early failure and budget to pay for an extended warranty OR hope you find a make/model (from another manufacturer) that will last more than 19 months before breaking and needing expensive repairs. I won't repeat the mistake. And I won't buy Whirlpool ever again. I had one other appliance break down early in it's life span (also a Whirlpool), but back then Whirlpool offered a one-time out of warranty repair since it was still 'fairly new' and the issue was deemed to be unusual. At 19 months, I guess it's old and expected to break.. and well outside the 1 yr period so not worth it to retain a customer for the future. I get it. No big deal. I'll give my money to someone else next time, and each time thereafter. I won't be back for a high priced under performing short-lived model from Whirlpool. Your mileage may, of course, vary. But... it wasn't that great while it lasted and merely "ok" in performance... something I'd expect for a dishwasher at the lowest end of the line.
