    Buyer Beware

I purchased this Whirlpool Refrigerator the weekend of Black friday thinking to myself that I got a good deal...Unfortunately after the two Best Buy guys delivered it(very polite mind you ) they plugged in the fridge only to not have it start cooling. After four hours of not working, i called BB to have the customer service lady tell me that it was company policy to not deal with an item once it had been delivered and that I would have to contact Whirlpool. Infuriated over this remark skip ahead three weeks my fridge is working after they had to replace the condenser, main board and some other little piece. After all this, i called the BB store locally and talked with a manager who told me that I should have called them and they would have taken care of it... In hindsight i should have returned it to BB and went to elsewhere.

Pizza boxes can lay flat in the freezer. That was somewho impotant to me when buying. The fridge looks great and runs well. large volume and some unique design features that help mazimize the space too.

1 week. Cooling fine, not too noisy. Not sure if I prefer the French doors to my old side by side. Not utilizing the space well yet.

This refrigerator is made with inferior stainless steel and Whirlpool will not stand behind their product. If you look on the internet you will see that others are having problems with rusting as we are. We bought Whirlpool dishwasher, oven, vent hood and refrigerator all at the same time less than a year ago and the other appliances are fine but the refrigerator is rusting on all three doors. The metal also shows fingerprints and scratches easily. Whirlpool says it is a cosmetic issue so they only cover for 30 days. They know they are putting an inferior grade of metal on these refrigerators and cover themselves in the warranty. Do you buy a stainless steel appliance to have it rust in less than a year? Also have had issues with the freezer door mechanics freezing up, but handy husband fixed it. Take a closer look at glowing reviews and see if they have had the refrigerator for a year or more. I wish we had bought something else.

This refrigerator fit my needs at first. It cooled great and space was good. It was also not too loud. Within a month it stopped cooling. It took me three calls to customer service with about an hour wait each time, and coordination with the service repair company to get it fixed. Now there's a loud rattling noise and I'm afraid to call customer service because of the long wait. I would not recommend a whirlpool appliance to anyone.

    AMAZING

I bought this fridge a year ago and it has been wonderful. This fridge has been through a lot because we remodeled around the fridge, has been moved around, abused by 2 toddlers (opening and closing doors and freezer door) and playing around the fridge. It does not have any scratches. The only scratch is has was my fault for putting a stupid rough magnet on the door. The performance has been amazing and I have absolutely ZERO complaints. Buy it but maybe research for places to buy from... I bought it from home depot, not sure if BB has good fridges since there's a lot of complaints about it..

    Has some design issues

This is a nice roomy fridge and the top french doors are great. But there is a design issue that can cause serious headaches. You have to be VERY careful to always make sure the doors are FULLY closed. If you don't the entire fridge will freeze up and stop working, ruining everything inside. This is because ice forms around the internal fans that blow the cold air. And they freeze in place. No fan, No cold air. Melt melt melt. Worse yet, there is no positive closing mechanism on the freezer. It is very easy to leave the door ajar a small amount, fractions of an inch. And thats all it takes. An ice storm ensues inside from humidity in the air and thats all she wrote. Same thing happens if fridge door left ajar. Also easy to do. Too bad because its a good fridge otherwise.

two major problems within four years

I have had this refrigerator for four years and have already had two major problems: (1) water leaking out of the freezer compartment, and (2) the refrigerator compartment stopped cooling. For the first problem, I fixed it myself by researching the Internet. The problem was well known to occur with these refrigerators, so there was a lot of info on the Internet. Fixing the problem involved removing the back panel and cutting a notch in a small rubber connector. A repair person would have charged $150-$200 for this. For the second problem, I had to call a repair person, because the main circuit board needed to be replaced: total cost of $360 ($200 part plus $160 labor). The repair person told me I would be lucky to get 9 years out of this frig. He recommended Frigidaire as the best brand to buy.

    Buyer Beware

My retired parents, on a fixed income, purchased this refrigerator brand new, January 2016, with an extended "Best Buy" warranty. It freezes everything, even in the produce drawers. Repairmen have replaced parts five or six times, changed settings, taken the thing apart. And still it freezes all of our produce, glass bottles of juice, everything! Several of the repairmen have said it has a problem from the factory. Whirlpool will not accept a return or replace this refrigerator. They are putting us off, I believe, in an effort to let the warranty run out. Do not buy this Whirlpool WRF535SMBW Refrigerator. Whirlpool has been so difficult to deal with. I cannot recommend this product nor Whirlpool customer service. 12/22/16 P.S. The refrigerator is still under the manufacturer's warranty until January 22, 2017. Today Whirlpool told us it would have been better if we had purchased an extended warranty from Whirlpool not Best Buy. Make sure repair technicians document EVERYTHING in writing.

    4 Months and broken!

Purchased in May of 2016. September of 2016 freezer stopped working. Called whirlpool customer service 4 times and 2 days later I'm still waiting for a repair man. Now fridge and freezer both don't work and I had to buy a mini fridge to keep the basic essentials for the kids. Horrible experience, regret purchasing this fridge or any whirlpool appliance for that matter. Customer service didn't care that I am out of $500 between spolied food, mini fridge and days off work waiting for their service guys that never showed. Get a Samsung, same fridge design but better quality. You live and learn

I've had this fridge for about 6 months now. It's a pretty good looking fridge... Stainless steel. Looks good in a kitchen. It was working fine but the last few month things have been freezing in the actual fridge although settings have not changed. so i lower the setting. then its not cold enough. its been acting up. even the freezer too. sometimes its super frozen other times its not. very strange.

from 1st day of use, the rubber insulated buffer connecting the door frame to the body of the fridge was coming off; now a few months later, it is starting to rip; the freezer door does not roll out smoothly on its frame - instead it shifts from side to side when opening. overall poor quality construction
