Bought the refrigerator in fall- after 4 months it is getting very loud- also a weird smell from the motor- in quarantine and waiting to have someone look at it. Also the doors easily stay open- both the freezer and refrigerator- I would not recommend. I was hoping for a better made product since “made in USA.”

    Plastic in fridge is horrible

I had a samsung before this and decided to go with a whirlpool. I was excited to have a "great" appliance. However, within the first year we had to replace the drawers rails for the veggie and fruit drawers as well as the casing around the drawers. Also the lid to deli drawers. I am very bummed. I think overall the hardware is a good fridge but the craftsmen ship and plastic is pathetic. I will probably be buying a different brand next time.

I loved this refrigerator when we first got it, BUT now it’s making this weird noise when the compresor it’s off! I kind of sounds like there is water falling into a boiling hot pan and it makes this sizzling noise that worries me! There is like condensation falling into the freezer area and you hear it very loudly, it seems to be coming from this little openings. It was one of the best purchases that I’ve made until this point! Not very pleased any more :(

Loudest compressor of any refrigerator I have ever owned, returned first one and my second one is just as loud. Does an ok job regulating temps if you set it to be colder but not very energy efficient then.

Reasearched french door refrigerators for over a year and kept coming back to this one. Went to my local Best Buy store to check it out in person and purchased it that day. The salesperson was super helpful & set up delivery. Also, I needed a water line installed in my kitchen and he set up an appointment for that as well. Both installations went perfect. This refrigerator is well made. Love the layout, pull out pantry drawer, bright lighting & it has TONS OF STORAGE!! The freezer is a good size and the ice maker is great. I’ve read a few reviews that say the fridge is loud and I would have to disagree. It is so quiet! Use the inside water dispenser to fill my Keurig. Love everything about this fridge and would highly recommend!

Nice fridge, but uneven doors are a problem

Only had it for 16 days now. We love the capacity, the clean look, the internal water dispenser and the icemaker in the freezer. It is also very quiet most of the time. Periodically, you hear the fan/condenser going, the water tank or ice tray fill or the ice drop. All of that is as expected. It would be 4+ stars if not for the uneven doors (noted by another reviewer) and the service confusion in trying to address this issue. The delivery/install crew was great, except that they said they couldn't level the doors. They said to call the 800 number for service and that I could return it within 15 days. Seemed crazy to return the fridge because of uneven doors, and even if I did, what were the odds that the next one would also have uneven doors (seems like a common issue with this fridge)? Plus who has time for the hassle of unloading/reloading the fridge, scheduling the deliveries, etc. This seems to be a major design flaw in this model, but a cosmetic one. Why would you create such a great fridge and then finish it less than perfectly? We did call the BB 800 number. The SAME GUY who delivered the fridge came out to service it. He left without doing anything, which was not his fault. What is up with that, Best Buy? We next tried DIY - looking at the owner manual, at videos online (which, by the way, there are 3 different Whirlpool videos on the topic, with 3 different fixes). I then called Whirlpool, which appears to have great warranty service. They sent their local authorized repair service out. He confirmed that the only way to fix this is to adjust the bottom feet on the front, essentially tilting the entire fridge until the doors look even. Then, dear reader, you must put a shim on a back corner or you will have a fridge that wobbles majorly. Plus, you have now torqued the entire fridge, simply to make doors appear even. I asked him not to do that. He said the door that is low cannot be raised with a washer, etc., because it would affect the seal. Not sure about that, but I didn't question. He did tighten up the brackets, but that didn't make much difference to the unevenness. There is something less than a quarter inch difference now. I still like the fridge and have decided to live with the uneven doors for the time being. If it really starts to bother me, I will do the leveling and shimming. Whirlpool did pay for the service call as a warranty call. Thank you for that, WP. Bottom line: great fridge, and I would buy it again, but would probably get militant within the 15-day return period to keep exchanging until I got one with level doors. I just don't have the time/energy for that hassle with everything else happening right now.

    Great French door refrigerator

The Whirlpool french door refrigerator is everything I wanted, large size, light and bright inside and out, water dispenser inside, abundant ice maker, plenty of storage! I have owned this now for 2 months and it is working great. I bought temp thermometers for both the refrigerator and freezer and both are very constant at the initial "4" setting with the freezer at 0 or lower and the refrigerator running around 36-37. I have not had any issues with this unit that were described in previous reviews. The drawers and large deli drawer work great, and no problems with popping off track. The doors close smoothly, no condensation on main doors or freezer door. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The new finger print resistant finish works great. I think one of the things that is very important to do on initial set up is to level the refrigerator. I think if this step is done correctly, it will eliminate most of the issues that people mentioned in reviews. The front white capped legs need to be extended higher with a wrench to bring up the front of the refrigerator and make it level. This should be done before you fill the unit with food and more weight. When this is done, you will see the white cap feet, and they will probably be about an inch below the gray plastic trim. If this is not done, then the lower drawer does not pull out and close properly; the freezer will frost up since air is getting in; the french doors won't close neatly and may stay ajar. It may even affect the drawers inside. I recommend this refrigerator to anyone wanting a water dispenser inside, and not in the front of the french door.

I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. The refrigerator has a nice finish. It doesnt show finger prints as bad as my last stainless steel refrigerator and seems to clean up easier. For the most part it runs fairly quiet. I saw a review stating that this refrigerator was a jet fighter. While it does make some low level noise Its not all that loud. It does have a few strange noises from time to time but thats now normal with any refrigerator. The space ist generous and the design works for us. However, my wife is not a huge fan of the shelving layout. She would prefer to take one of them out for taller items however you loose storage space if you do that. Overall this is a good value and while not perfect we like it and are pleased.

    Disappointing

    Posted .

First of all if anything drips into the drip pan and you have to clean it it is very difficult to do so. You have to pull the fridge out, unscrew the back panel, and use a wet vac or whatever else you can to get back there because the drip pan is not removable and it goes all around the bottom in a very impractical way. Second, apparently there is a clear layer on the fridge, this layer started pulling up and bubbling around the bottom of door handle. It is not tarnished (and it is not the plastic layer that is to be peeled off after purshase), you can actually feel it has lifted and the small air bubbles under it, which move when pressed on. I called customer service, sent them a picture and they told me since it was cosmetic and past 30 days that they didn't cover it (it probably started happening about a month after we got it, we've had it for only 6 months now). It started small and is getting larger, I hope it doesn't keep extending as it does not look good, obviously. If you have something like this happen please call because they said they never heard of this, which I think is unlikely. For a fridge of this quality and price, things like this should not be happening. Disappointed. As far as the interior functionality of it, no complains. As far as the fingerprint resistant feature, that works well. It is noisier than our old fridge which was probably close to 20 years old! Part of me wishes we still had it as it worked well and we really didn't gain much more space. Lesson learned.

I had a BEAUTIFUL $4000 kitchenaid fridge for ONE YEAR... Beauty isn’t worth anything if the fridge doesn’t do its job. It broke down in a year and we had to find another one. This time we researched for reliability rather than be captivated by beauty. This one seemed reasonably priced for the amount of positive reviews and least amount of service requests. Pros: Runs a crap ton of ice in a short amount of time. So, if you’re not the family that is constantly grabbing at the ice bin, remember to shut off the ice maker when the ice box is filled. It is functional. The shelving layout is good. Having the bottom third (LARGE) drawer is a huge plus. We can put our meats there without contaminating anything. Good water pressure coming from spout. Inside is well lit. Cons: The biggest drawback that frustrates us is the fact that you have to consciously “push” the French door closed. If you do not, the fridge will not completely close and it will cause the backside to freeze up. And it’s so easy to NOT push the door closed each time. The French doors are not flush. One side pops out further but it takes a perfectionist’s eye to notice. As we are downgrading from luxury, we find it annoying that the drawers don’t glide open and shut. Freezer bottom tray is average to poor quality. Seems like it could crack under any pressure from heavy goods. Overall if you’re looking for reliability that doesn’t empty your wallet then this is a good buy. JUST WAIT FOR SALES, they happen all the time. You can save an extra $200+ on the price tag.

Best Buy had a great sale hut still price matched and saved me more money. The fridge holds a lot, has a large deli tray, and large door trays. The interior water dispenser works really well. The water filter serves the water dispenser and the ice maker, Which makes small ice that easily fits into any water flask. The fridge is louder than you would expect but it is not an unpleasant noise. The humidity control works good and the temperature is nice and cold, but there is no thermometer so you can’t actually tell what the temp is. The shelves have a sharp edge and have no lip so if liquid spills, it would drip all the way down. The exterior finish is attractive and seems to resist fingerprints, but the handles are a little wider and edgier than I would like - a skinnier smoother handle would be easier on the hands.
