We really like this refrigerator. The French doors are nice, Easy to get out an item stored on one side without opening up the entire refrigerator. Also ideal when using the internal water dispenser. Nice that you can get cold water from a dispenser that doesn’t take up a huge amount of room. The freezer on the bottom is great if you’re a short person as it’s much easier to find things. The top drawer in the freezer is great for storing breads/buns while the larger bottom drawer with the movable divider makes it easy to store lots of foodstuffs. We do agree with other reviewers that the refrigerator should have a door ajar alarm. The door with the sealing flap can appear to be fully closed but checking it you can find on occasion that it hasn’t closed fully.

Had it for a month so far and it's running perfectly. Replaced a Samsung that was nothing but a disaster from early on. Getting used to ice in the freezer drawer and water inside the fridge, but these were problems areas before with the door dispenser, (among it not cooling properly with the Samsung). Controls are inside the door at the top, which is actually nice as it gives the outside a very clean look. Doors have more storage without the door dispenser and we get more ice in the freezer tray than before. Time will tell but hopefully have better luck with Whirlpool. Delivery was awful from Best Buy. Fridge arrived damaged, shelves were shattered inside. Old fridge had already been loaded on truck and Best Buy dispatcher promised a replacement that night or by morning. Called for an update in the evening and was told they never do that. Had to schedule a new appointment for 3 days later. We were promised some sort of compensation for the inconvenience, nothing was given to us. This left us with no fridge and hundreds of dollars of food that had to be thrown out. Not the first bad experience with Best Buy service. Geek Squad plans have taken 2-3 months to do repairs for us in the past. Not planning to use Best Buy in the future.

    LOTS OF ROOM!

We are really enjoying this refrigerator. I was afraid I would miss the ice and water dispenser on the door, but I don't at all. That's just one less feature to eventually have problems with, and we still have icemaker and water dispenser on the inside, and I saved $200 by opting for inside dispenser and ice. My favorite thing is the wide shallow drawer just under the main shelving (see photo). It's amazing how much it holds. I have my eggs, bacon, cheese, lunch meat, individual yogurts, cream cheese, butter, etc., ALL in that drawer and it easily fits. If desired, it could easily hold a prepared serving tray of something instead. The only thing I miss is having a readout of the exact temperature of the refrigerator and freezer, as this refrigerator has settings of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 instead.

I bought this fridge a few weeks ago. I love the nice clean look of it. The Stainless Steel is Great, it doesn't show the fingerprints. The ice maker is very good makes a lot of ice. Its very quiet too! I don't like all the bells and whistles on the outside of a fridge that is why I chose this fridge, but I really like the water on the inside its really nice to have it, I am drinking a lot more water now that I have this fridge and that is a very good thing. It is very spacious There is a lot of room on the doors for taller items, and the shelves are easy to moved around in order to fit more.

Switched from side-by-side to French door!

This is our 1st “French Door” Refrigerator. We went from the side by side to the French door/bottom freezer, and were not sure if we would like the design. Well I must say this is the best choice we could have made. It boast's the same cubic area as a side-by-side but for some reason it certainly seems much larger. Both the refrigerator and freezer are so much easier to see and get things in and out of. We are now French door lovers for sure. “Ooh La La”

Bestbuy delivered it and did an excellent job setting up/installing the new unit. The black stainless is pretty close to the frigidaire gallery black stainless stove I already have. The unit is fairly quiet. The ice maker will make some noise when dropping ice into the plastic tray. I will occasionally shut off the ice maker (lifting bar) as the drawer for pulling out the freezer can result in ice cube or 2 shooting from that tray behind the freezer drawer as there is a channel that ice bar mechanism follows when opening or closing. The fridge is maintaining temperature excellently and finally I have a decent temperature controlled drawers for produce/fruits/cheese. Previous fridge was a side by side, so I am paranoid about the seal/gasket around the french doors. Time will tell. Recommend the unit thus far (ownership 1 month).

Refrigerator is generally excellent. A couple of small items- the water comes out of the filtered water dispenser a bit too fast if you have a small glass to fill - it will splash over the top at first. The left side door doesn't shut all the way on its own- you have to push it into the door seal. Other than that, the features are excellent- well lighted- plenty of space with adjustable shelving and factory settings are fine for keeping food and drinks at the correct temps.

We replaced a leaking side-by-side with an external ice-maker and water dispenser. We don't miss the external water or ice. The internal water dispenser is great but a little slow. The ice-maker is phenomenal. The refrigerator is well-organized and spacious. The stated dimensions are larger than the actual but that worked in our favor as we had a tight fit and were limited in selection. Thankfully, we measured the item in the store. Two things I would change. One, I would include a second gallon storage shelf or expand the current one to hold 2 gallon containers. Second, I would eliminate the items hanging from the ceiling of the frig.

Whirlpool makes a really great refrigerator with small upgrades like the ice maker and water dispenser. These are inside the refrigerator/freezer and provides easy access to both. This is not through the door. The Bottom freezer has lots of space. The drawer for deli stuff is more spacious than most. I Shelves are adjustable. There is no butter keeper but the deli drawer in the frig provides enough space for almost any butter dish. It keeps things colder than my previous refrigerator. The freezer has lots more space more than my previous 2 refrigerators.

Overall this is a good refrigerator. My one complaint with it is that it requires you to open the two top doors in order to open the freezer part on the bottom. The motor is also a bit louder than I'd like, but there is a lot of space and it keeps my items properly cooled. The outside is fingerprint resistant which I do like a lot. This also makes it easier to clean and it has a nice design. I would recommend this refrigerator.

I am thrilled with our new fridge. I looked at nearly a hundred fridge options online. I kept falling back to this one. While I was mulling it over, they updated the fridge to include an internal water dispenser. I LOVE THIS! Now the front is still sleek (without the yucky dispenser), and the kids are not constantly playing with the water buttons. However, I still have access to fresh, cold, filtered water. This fridge suits our family of seven perfectly!

READ THIS IF YOU'RE BUYING A FRIDGE-- ANY FRIDGE

    |

Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm writing this review for the points that Best Buy is offering. I resent being obligated to do this now, just a few weeks after receiving the fridge. Settle in by the fire, and I'll tell you a tale. My last fridge, a Kenmore Elite, died after 3 years (the LG-made compressor died-- there are class action lawsuits covering this fridge). Prior to this, I loved that friedge. Had been pressured to wriote a review for it just a few short weeks after buying it, I'd feel like I had blood on my hands for anyone who used my review to make a purchase. So the best I can offer is this-- this fridge is working well, so far. Based on the extensive research and interviews with repair folk, this fridge has a good chance of living a long life, but there's not guarantee. There's a real information problem on the internet, because most "professional" reviews talk about modern features and not, you know, whether the food will actually keep your food cold for 15 years or more. And the unprofessional reviews, like this one, are inventivized to say anything just to get a few points. With that in mind, I'll try to set the record straight for those who care most about buying a fridge that actually works. 1. NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT BUY LG OR SAMSUNG FRIDGES. Multiple repair people have told me these are nightmares, for sever reasons. First, the parts are much harder to get than domestic brands (more info about that below). They begin breaking down sometimes just months after you get them due to terrible engineering, and then you get angry at the service technicians who are supposed to fix something that wasn't built to work in the first place. Breakdowns are so common with LG and Samsung that you often have to wait weeks or months before you can find a service person willing to come out and work on them. And once the 1-year warranty runs out, you're toast. Sure, you could buy the extended warranty, but that still means every time the fridge dies you have to throw out all your food, medicine, etc. and the warranty won't cover the cost of replacing that. Plus, you have to consider the "down time" where you're operating out of a cooler. Having just experienced this, I'll tell you that it's simply awful. And Samsung's warranty support is legendarily awful. Google this any you'll find countless nightmare stories. 2. BUY WHIRLPOOL/JENN-AIR/AMANA/KITCHENAID/MAYTAG. That's why I bought this unit. Don't get me wrong-- these are not great refridgerators (you'd have to go with semi-professional built-ins like Sub Zero or Thermador to get a fridge that's actually built well), but these are what you might call the "best of the worst". They come off the same assembly line, so it really doesn't much matter which brand you choose from these. The parts are readily available and most service techicians will work on these. 3. DO NOT GET AN IN-DOOR ICE MAKER/WATER DISPENSER. (If you do, only get it in a side-by-side fridge, where the dispenser is on the freezer size). These are the first things that are likely to break down. The problem comes from the condensation that results from mixed temperature zones-- having a freezer in your refrigerator compartment. This can affect your fridge system in many ways, all bad. It could cause corrosion/rust that spreads through the system. If you buy a side-by-side, having the dispenser in the freezer door eliminates the condensation issue, but then you have to deal with a side-by-side fridge. I definitely don't miss bending down to get my produce, and shuffling around my shelves to get to food. 4. IF YOU NEED AN AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER AND WATER DISPENSER, GET ONE WHERE THE WATER IS INSIDE THE FRIDGE AND THE ICE MAKER IS INSIDE THE FREEZER. (That's why I bought this fridge). This eliminates the condensation issue in #3. Again, these are still likely to be the first thing that breaks in your fridge, but keeping the temperature zones separate could buy you extra time. My last bit of advice is to buy an extended warranty for your fridge (and buy it with a card that gives you a free warranty, like the 2-years I got with my Costco Visa card). This comes from someone who NEVER buys extended warranties. When you're spending $2,000 for something, it pays to have a little extra insurance. All this being said, I can't possibly rate this fridge with any degree of accuracy (I am being forced to leave stars so I picked 3 arbitrarily). Come back to me in 10 years and I'll give you an honest review.

I had the older model of this refrigerator at my old house so when I was picking out the new appliances for the house I was building I did not hesitate to buy this brand and model again. Easy to use. It also has plenty of space to put large items such as milk jugs and large coffee creamers you get at Sams or Costco in the door. I like how the ice maker is in the bottom but still easy to get access.

Just delivered....uneven doors, freezer seal damaged, styrofoam surrounding water line behind vegetable drawer cracked, and the made in the USA sticker was raised due to a large chunk of dirt under it. I tried to buy made in the USA but pride needs to be stepped up on the assembly line. I can't report on the operation since it's been one day, but not off to a good start.

Our 7 year old unit had to be replaced. It had a manufacturer's defect we didn't address in time under warranty. My wife and I settled on Whirlpool after researching many brands and models online. Looking at models in stores convinced us Whirlpool had the most durable construction. Many of the other big name brands had a flimsy feel to the freezer drawers and shelves. This unit is solid. We also wanted the convenience of an ice maker and water dispenser but didn't want the space compromises having ice/ water in the door created. Shelf spacing has a lot of variability and the deeper shelves in the doors accommodated our jars well. If I have one disappointment it's that the fruit and vegetable drawers are smaller than our previous unit. On the plus side the deli drawer is bigger, so excess fruit and veggies get stored there. This Whirlpool is considerably quieter than I expected which is great. Best Buy also had their units plugged in so you can see how well the lighting works. Not so with other vendors carrying the same products. The Best Buy staff was also extremely helpful and knew their products, warranties and delivery options. Another plus was the manufacturers water filter bypass plug. We really don't need the filter, so this was helpful. Much better than buying an after market plug for an exorbitant price.

An upgrade for me with one fatal flaw...

LOVE this fridge so far. (Haven't had the water hooked up yet; that will come in September with the kitchen remodel.) Of course it has way more room, and YAY I don't have to stand on my head to get to my fruits and vegetables and leftovers any more! I could kiss the person that invented the pullout freezer so you can easily see what you have. My only *personal* complaint is I didn't really need a freezer at all, and wish you could buy a refrigerator only. Now for the fatal flaw: BEWARE! This fridge is a very glossy black and scratches ridiculously easy. After scratching it within an hour of install :'( I pulled out the manual and they tell you all you can do to clean it is a sponge and soapy water. Well guess what? The smudges and fingerprints don't come off! And you can't wipe it down or you scratch it further. I bought this refrigerator for the other features (no huge icemaker taking up door space in the fridge part) and didn't really pay attention to how glossy the finish was. My fault, but it is still stupid. Only the front is like that, the rest is like my old fridge, a textured black that you could actually clean. Very disappointed in this aspect.

I was looking for a replacement for my Maytag and couldn't be happier. This fridge has everything: lots of space; inside fridge water and ice dispensers; lots of room in the freezer. Great design. Perfect fit for my kitchen. And because it's whirlpool, I can use brand new water filters I bought for my old maytag. I am really happy with this purchase and definitely recommend.

I've had this refrigerator for about 6 months and it is spacious and works great. I just changed the water filter and I like that it is inside so you don't get water spills all over the floor. I chose the icemaker inside because it gave me more room in the refrigerator and it works fine in the freezer. The freezer is surprisingly deep and I can fit quite a bit.
