Complaint is about Geek Squad non-install
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sure the refrigerator will be fine; my complaint is about the Geek Squad delivery and install. Delivery person was rude, and they simply dropped off the appliance without installing the water line. Left the install kit for us to install. What kind of service is this?

Great product at a good price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We looked everywere for a new fridge, and bought this as a replacement for a side by side in a new house. We bought one last year that was very similar (a Kenmore made by Whirlpool with a similar layout inside that we really liked). The black stainless is really sharp and resists fingerprints (but doesn't eliminate them). The ice maker looks easier to replace if it breaks compared to other brands, which was important to us. It isn't whisper quiet... it is a fridge. But it isn't any louder than any other one we've had. It is only noticebly loud for maybe 20 seconds every half hour, and only a very small annoyance at night. I'm not sure if it is part of the cooling or making ice. The bins are sturdy enough, especially at this price point. One point: make sure you have a water line that isn't really narrow diameter. We were told we needed a new one for the install, and the one we bought wouldn't send enough water through. We hooked up the old copper line and it worked great. Overall I would highly recomend it. At this price point you won't do any better.

Beautiful Look, But With Some Compromises
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've previously had two large side-by-side fridges. As most people know, these fridges have oodles of space in them, but are awkwardly narrow. You also get hot zones at the top of the unit, so frozen things aren't quite so frozen up top, etc. I was hoping this french door unit would resolve that. It hasn't quite. It's beautiful and gets lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" from guests for all the tricks it does, but fundamentally there are some issues. First, the positives: 1) Technology: If you're a geek for technology, get ready! The TEMPERATURE controls are embedded in that glitzy touch screen above the ice/water dispenser...they aren't knobs inside the unit like every other fridge I've ever had. Also, the thing has sensors that can tell if the door is open, so it'll start dinging after 5 minutes if you don't close the door! It also has the ability to lock the ice/water, which is nice if you have kids....and it can do a few other cutesy things too. Your money basically gets you touch screen design instead of buttons. Very fun for neighbors/guests, but you won't touch most of these buttons on a day-to-day basis. 2) FRIDGE space: Emphasis here on "fridge"...that upper portion of the unit. The unit makes great use of all the available space, with tons of adjustable cubbies, bins and shelves. If your diet is fridge-heavy, you'll really like all the shelves and space. And you'll love not having to bend down all the time to get things. It's incredibly ergonomically friendly. 3) French doors: As weird as it is adjusting to opening in a sequence (FIRST the right, then SECOND the left door...even my guests get confused) it really does make the space far more usable. It helps when I make big trays of food and need to chill them. Major improvement over side-by-side. 4) Perceived Quality: Everything (for the most part) feels very high quality and good for the price point. I will say that the crisper/veggie drawers seem a little flimsy, though. 5) General Operation Sound Level: This is pretty quiet, but you can still hear it. I'm not dissatisfied with the sound level when it's running. And because it's new, it doesn't run very much, which adds to the perception of quiet. The Negatives: 1) FREEZER Space: I was surprised at how little freezer space there is. It's not nothing, but compared to the side-by-side, there's quite a bit less space....hard to quantify, but let's say I can fit about 10 more tater tot bags in the side by side than this. This design is brutal because of the sliding drawers. You can't overfill the drawers (ONLY to the top of them!) so it makes me cautious to overbuy things. I tend to be a stocker at sales, so this is risky. It's the single biggest disappointment with the unit. Something about the drawer-face thickness (the face is so big!) and the plunging ceiling (is the compressor motor in there above the freezer?) makes it quite small. 2) Ice/Water Dispenser: The water flow is great, and the filter is easy to replace, but the ice comes out in lurching amounts...it's almost comical how erratically it dumps ice on people's hands as it spews out. And the ice machine isn't really muffled, so this whisper quite unit is abruptly loud when it dumps ice into the tray. Also, the paddles are awkward to use. They have virtually no travel to them at the prime pressure point where my glass hits them, so when you press your glass against them, sometimes they suddenly turn off. I find that I have to press my FINGERS against the BOTTOM of the paddles to get them to operate properly. A strange oversight on such an old concept. Overall, I'm happy enough with the look and feel of the unit to keep it, but I certainly would recommend that you trial the water/ice paddles AND the freezer space before buying to make sure you're satisfied with these detractions.

I LOVE this refrigerator. . .
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely LOVE this refrigerator! Prior to this purchase I had a side-by-side white Whirlpool refrigerator in my kitchen, that was purchased at least 15 years ago. Now the only thing wrong with the white refrigerator was that the original inside baskets/drawers had broken over the past year, and I just had not purchased replacements. And as needed over the past 5 years, I had replaced other old kitchen appliances with stainless steel, and of course Whirlpool. I kept saying that once the fridge croaked I would buy a French door one, after seeing my son's new refrigerator. However the white one kept working perfectly year after year after year. So the 30 year old Whirlpool refrigerator we had in the garage surprised us a couple weeks ago, and just stopped working. We use that one for sodas and, bottled water and other hunting type needs. My husband was going to go and purchase another one for the garage and I quickly said nope, let's move the white one from the kitchen and buy a new one. It hit at a great time when this one went on sale, a pre-Black Friday sale. I took all the frozen food from the side-by-side and placed in thee bottom of this new one. Based on what I had packed into the freezer side of the side-by-side, once it was put in the bottom freezer of the new one, I had room left over. You have to be systematic about how you put it in, and not just toss it in for you to have sufficient space. I have zero issues with the upper doors. I am right handed, so I always pull the doors open first right and then left. If someone else pulls the left door first, and shuts it last, so far we have not had any issues with the two doors not sealing shut. I was told by my son, that they had issues with the doors not closing and sealing perfectly at first if the left door wasn't shut first. The issue was that they had failed to level their refrigerator and then adjusted their doors at the top door hinges, as the instructions had suggested. I have zero issues with the ice and water dispensers in the door. I guess it might be that when we use the dispensers we hold the cups/glasses with our fingers to the inside, so our fingers press into the push handle. I like that it has sensors and alert me if I do fail to close one of the doors, or push the bottom freezer in all of the way. It hums and it does gurgle a bit when filling the ice maker. But a whole lot less noisy than the old one. But after a couple of days it become background noise.

Nice unit, some flaws and bad design changes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I like this appliance. The only problems are 1) the newer units have an ice maker with half the capacity of older units, 2) the ice tends to clog the outlet and then pours out later all over the floor after thawing and 3) the water filter costs twice as much and has to be replaced twice as frequently. I just thought you would like to know before purchasing.

Not very sturdy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fridge is pretty average. Storage is OK but nothing special. Ice maker continues to dispense after button is released overflowing the glass a lot of times. My biggest complaint is the weak plastics used in the racks and door shelves. either it is too thin or the wrong type. I had to repair the drawer guide in the rear, the hinge on the humidifier failed, the shelves crack if something is insserted that is too big (Not forced in Just inserted)

Nice fridge
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the French doors although initially I didn’t really care for it. It is a lot easier to keep the fridge clean since you can see everything without having to bend down. My only complaint is the ice machine area is big, ice cubes are small sized and ice comes out a lot at once but I think this is the normal with refrigerators bc I had the same issue with my last. Overall great buy. I like it and would recommend it.

Good, but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ice Maker occasionally backs up and the freezer will sometimes frost over, but overall a good refridgerator. The icemaker will also freeze any liquid that is placed next to it on the top shelf.

Quite possibly the worst model Whirlpool made.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend this particular fridge from Whirlpool. The only thing is does well is keep food cold and frozen. How it does that is where the issues start. The ice make failed within two weeks of purchase. It produced ice but no long turned the coil to dispense cubed or crushed ice. Two repair visits later and that has been fixed. Overall the unit is just designed very poorly. It is extremely load every 45 min to an hour when the ice system cycles. If watching TV or having a conversation with somone, you can't hear anything. I can hear it on the second floor of my home, just imagie how it sounds on the first. When running, there is a constant whine/buzz sound that is just irritating. I know this can't be normal because the Whirlpool fridge I had similar to this unit didn't make the amount of noise this one does. That unit lasted for 13 years before the ice and water system failed. This unit is just ridiculously loud and obnoxious. It's an embarrasment to have when company is at your home. They always ask why it is so loud. The interior lighting on this unit is poor. The lighting is only at the top and does not provide enough light to the lower levels of the fridge. This is just a poorly designed fridge. These are things you can't hear or see until you bring it home as floor models are rarely or never plugged in at the stores. Do yourself a favor and just stay away from this fridge if you don't want the hassle of multiple service calls and part replacements which may or may not fully resolve the issue.
