Customers are saying

Customers commend the 26.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator for its overall performance, ample storage space, appealing design, and effective LED lighting. However, some customers have noted concerns regarding the noise level and the water dispenser design. A few customers reported issues with temperature control and missing parts. Despite these drawbacks, the refrigerator's size is considered a great value for the price.

We've had this fridge for 31 days over a year. About a month ago the freezer light flickered out. Then a couple of weeks later the upper LED's in the fridge all started to flicker out a couple at a time... I tried to call the Whirlpool Warranty Center but they are only open while I'm at work so I took the day off today to deal with it, and they are very picky about having a receipt for the fridge and for the first time in 38 years I didn't keep a receipt for something big. So I drove down to the Best Buy to get a copy of the receipt from the Pacific Sales folks, only to discover that I bought the fridge 1 year & 31 days ago... about the time the lamps started to fail. Lucky for me the sales guy talked me into the extended service plan. So my advice is to add $219 for the extended warranty to the price of this fridge so you can have it worked on when things start to go bad.

Terrible. Warning! DO NOT BUY! After 6 months the ice maker quit working. It takes 30 + days for them to locate a replacements part. 30 days later it is now making a buzzing and clicking sound. Best Buy nor Whirlpool are willing to replace this item. It's a lemon!

    Avoid this refrigerator

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR The Whirlpool and KitchenAid french door refrigerators have a known problem that causes the compressor and coils to freeze over. You will have a repairman out every four months to defrost the cooling system with a heat gun, which does not solve the problem. The issue is that the sensor is too close to the cold air vent so it cannot tell when the compressor snd coils are freezing over until it is too late. And unlike nearly every other refrigerator on the planet, it does not have a heating element to remove the ice once it detects that it has frozen. It just turns off the cooling system—but not long enough for the ice to actually melt. And then it starts the cycle over. So your food just rotates between between freezing and spoiling until someone manually defrosts it. And worst, Whirlpool refuses to fix the problem. They just send someone out to defrost your system until your warranty expires and then walk away. There is even a class action lawsuit about this issue. So buy anything else.

    The refrigerator that doesn't cool

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this based on other reviews thinking we were getting a great fridge. The first one that was delivered had the same problem as the second one that was delivered: The freezer worked great and the fridge didn't. The first one, the fridge wouldn't cool below 43 degrees. The second one, we managed to get it down to about 40 degrees but that's it. Every time we open the door, it jumps up to 45 or 46 degrees and then takes another 4-5 hours to cool back down to 40. I've used multiple thermometers just to make sure my devices are calibrated and they are all within 1 degree of each other. We started with the fridge set for 37 degrees and have gradually moved it down to 33 degrees with no change in actual temperature change inside the fridge. We lost about $350 in food because of this.

    Compressor Died After a Year

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The fridge was good while it lasted but the compressor died after we'd only owned it for 14 months. No one was available to service it so we're swapping it for a different fridge entirely now. While it did work, the PROs were that it is big, nicely organized, and has a very spacious and compartmentalized freezer. The CONs were that the water dispenser never worked properly for us. The water came out incredibly slowly and it wanted the expensive filter replaced very often. We had a Whirlpool tech come out as well as a plumber and no one could figure out why.

Horrible service. Appliances were never delivered so had to claw back a refund. Spoke to 23 customer service geeks over two days and none of them had any clue what to do. I was told various random stories non of which made logical sense. Worst experience ever. Suggest Best Buy stick with electronics and get out of the appliance biz since they clearly can’t manage it. Products are great—I got them from Lowe’s and they were delivered next day.

Had this refrigerator from 2014 to present. In 5/2019, long past extended warranties, we were having refrigeration and ice maker problems. Spent close to $600. in repairs. In 2/2020 we had rust forming on the bottom of the Ice bucket and spent another $125. Currently the freezer is not working and I could not get any satisfaction or help from Whirlpool so I have decided to replace it. I just may be an unlucky case as there are many better reviews here but for the $2500. plus repairs that this cost me I feel that I did not get value for this deal.

Bad service and the refrigerator would not cool.

From day one, this refrigerator would not cool down under 40 degrees. Called for service twice, the first time, the technician said we had too much food in it and it's blocking the airways. We removed the food and the airways are not blocked, and still, the termperature still stayed well above 40 degrees and food starts going bad in one or two days. called again, best buy would not fix it and i had to deal with whirlpool even when i bought their greeksquad warranty which i paid hundreds for and i can't even use their service. They said i had to wait a year before i can use it. Now, trying to call wirlpool again and get another technician to come down and still on the phone forever before i get a live person. So frustrating.

Absolute garbage. 2 1/2 years old won’t cool. Whirlpool makes it worse by sending out crooks to my house. A company this large should not rely on Google reviews to pick the companies they use to service their clients. Flamingo appliances has a 4.4 on Google 1.8 on Yelp and if you read the yelp reviews that’s pretty much what we dealt with.

    Worst Refrigerator. DONT BUY!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this refrigerator 3 months ago and one fine day the Refrigerator kept turning ON and OFF every 2 seconds. We called whirlpool to schedule a service appointment and it was 2 weeks out. We suspected a control board issue as we can hear some relay clicking on and off every 2 seconds. We told at the time of scheduling the service appointment that it might be related to control board and they did nothing proactively (at the very least they should've put one in order). Obviously they didn't put one in order and the boards are in back order by the time the tech arrived. His diagnosis proved that it was in fact a control board issue and we are now. Whirlpool has the worst and lamest warranty service ever and they don't know how to treat their customers properly. We are disappointed with this purchase and would never buy anything with a "Whirlpool" brand in it.

Don't waste your money! Serviced 2x in 1.5 years

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! We bought this fridge back in November of 2020, Whirlpool had to come out and replace the control board in November of 2021 and now is out for a 2nd time to replace the control board and are replacing cooling fans too in May of 2022 (just 6 months later). With the supply issues they could not get a tech out for 10 days. When we asked if they would cover our food that would be spoiled due to the fridge not working they said no because we have just the standard manufactures warranty. So if you end up buying this fridge make sure you buy the extended plan. We bough the upgraded SS interior Whirlpool dishwasher and the top rack on that has already had to been replaced because they used cheap plastic and the rollers broke off, and the control panel on the range has also been replaced (again bought the upgraded front display)... Save yourself the headache of dealing with Whirlpool or any of the products they make.

    BEWARE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

BEWARE. I am livid right now. I am remodeling my kitchen, and since the cabinets were all 1/16th of an inch wider than they were supposed to be, grrr, it encroached on the space I had to put a refrigerator. The old one that came out is a 36" refrigerator, but that is the width of the door at the front. The part behind the door is 35 1/2 inches apparently for ease of installation. My old one fit in the new space, but it was tight. I have exactly 36", so I looked for a refrigerator that was narrower, and Whirlpool had a 35 5/8" one. I assumed it would be narrower behind the door as well, but it is 35 5/8" from front to back. Although tight, it should have still worked. I had a gap at the top on each side, but the stupid thing bulges out at the middle. I had to sand the cabinets on the edge in order to get the stupid thing where it needed to go, despite having an opening that should have been plenty wide enough. If you have a 36" opening, don't count on this fitting. How do you advertise this thing as 35 5/8" when it is wider in the middle? It is rubbing on both sides, despite the opening being 36", yet there are gaps on both sides at the top. I could have ordered a 36" refrigerator that was made the same way as my old one, that would have fit a lot easier, without the doctoring to the cabinets. I am NOT impressed.
