Poor ice maker design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We have had this unit for just over 3 years and the ice maker stopped making ice. Technician showed me that there were three split wires at the bottom of the freezer door and it cannot be fixed w/o completely replacing the door which is not under warranty. He said he has seen this before w/ this model. So, now we have an expensive 3-year old refrigerator with a non-functioning ice -maker.

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This out of the box purchase appeared to be terrific (at first glance), but after the debacle of getting it delivered, after several scheduled delivery dates, and then having the delivery guys NOT set it up (ummmm, I have no idea how to level a fridge!), the actual product is just "ok". I had to call Whirlpool direct to have a service repair guy come because the ice clumps/freezes and won't dispense in the door. However, the outside service guy had no clue. BUT for the money, and hassle of disposing of my prior fridge already, I kept it and hope it proves to be functional for as many years as it cost me. Would I do it again...not sure?

It wasn't one of the more expensive fancy models, so I knew it wouldn't be perfect. Some issues with the ice maker, and the fridge's owner manual doesn't have a troubleshooting section, but I was able to figure out how to fix it. I'm not sure if there was another manual I was supposed to get that I didn't
