This fridge is what we were looking for.. a big, stainless steel side by side made by Whirlpool with water/ice maker under $1500. The shelves are to our liking (thin with no extra nonsense). My only complaint.. and its starting to get annoying is a high pitch hum that were hear often.. so much so Im going to call Whirlpool and ask them if it is normal.. sometime I can here it all the way down the hallway which is a good distance away.. Its not constant but when it occurs it stays on for several hours.. usually a few times a day..

Overall appearance is good, fit into space as expected. Plenty of room inside both compartments. Freezer could use an additional shelf and the fridge portion is lacking a butter tray / shelf in the doors. The doors swing open to 180 degrees so if you have a wall or cabinet that is deeper the the fridge there is real chance the door will bang into the wall and dent the door or damage the wall. Ice maker was very noise at startup, it is better once the ice bin is full, however when it refills the ice you can hear the noise in the next room. Delivery and installation was prompt and as promised.

We are very, very pleased with our purchase of the Whirlpool Side-by-Side Refrigerator. Seems to have so much more room than our previous unit. It is so quite and bright inside - so easy to find what we are looking for. So glad we made this purchase...

My opinion is nobody should buy this fridge. The icemaker in this fridge has all kinds of problems. If you don’t use ice fast enough it starts to settle and compact where it gets to point of settling together too much into a pack of ice, and stops letting any come out of fridge. You have to empty it out, defrost ice maker area and try again. We use ice daily, so should not be a problem. This happens every few months though. We have had the ice maker replaced twice due to the water in tray freezing up and not releasing the cubes. It burns out motor on ice tray it the point of burning it out, which is why it has to be replaced. This is also a whirlpool known problem. This last time our ice maker stopped working we were told it is now a wiring problem. Had a whirlpool service provider do some splicing on the wiring but stated if that didn’t last then we would have to buy a new door which would cost $1000 and would not be covered by warranty. After 2 weeks it has stopped working again. Apparently this fridge has a known defect on the icemaker wiring in the door. The wiring in door has separated over time due to the positioning in the door. As the door opens and closes it tugs at the wires. Apparently whirlpool knows about this defect, but not doing anything about it and it’s not covered past the 1 year warranty. Spoke with whirlpool representative today and all I got was sorry for your frustration but nothing covered.

After a total kitchen renovation and much deliberating between a french-door or side-by-side, we decided to go with this large side-by-side. We are very happy with our decision. Best Buy delivery was awesome. They took the doors off to get it through the door safely, put it back together and put it in place. The refrigerator itself runs quiet, it's very large inside and looks beautiful in our new kitchen. The outside is fingerprint resistant and wipes clean. The ice cube maker is a little noisy and it dispenses loudly but I think that is normal for an in-door icemaker. The ice cubes are smaller but we knew that ahead of time. You can't really adjust the shelves but they are set in good places. Lots of room on the inside of the door. Overall, we are very happy with our new Whirlpool refrigerator.

Fridge and freezer seem very, very cold. I’m still trying to adjust the temperature to my preference. I’ve only had the fridge for 3 weeks. There is not a butter/egg compartment which I wish it had. The shelves are adjustable, but only to the manufacturers places. The top shelf does not fit a soda bottle standing up, putting the shelf on the second set of runners wastes lots of space. The fridge seems to run well, so far. Just a little disappointed with the limitations of configuring the shelling and really, really miss the butter compartment on the door. Looking for an add on part for butter compartment as it looks like there is a way to attach on, but I haven’t been able to locate a butter compartment as an extra attachment.

I have been a very happy owner of this refrigerator for a little over a year. The size for a side-by-side is very large. The print-resistant stainless is FANTASTIC! I love the electronic control panel on the front and especially the feature that allows you to dispense water at a pre-determined amount. I use this feature all the time-even for cooking and baking. It is very accurate. I also really like the cute little pyramid-shaped ice cubes. The noise coming from the ice maker that some are complaining about doesn’t bother me. It’s for such a short period of time, and it’s only the water filling the little ice cube molds and/or dumping them into the ice bin. And the removable ice bin is SO EASY to remove and replace. Overall, I’m very pleased with my purchase and Best Buy’s installers were excellent! Thank you!!!

I purchased this 11 months ago. I was very hesitant and extremely nervous due to some of the reviews. However, so far, I have only had two minor issues: 1) the icemaker compartments must be cleared every so often (for some reason ice particles accumulate and eventually melt and leak onto the dispenser tray; and, 2) it occasionally makes a vibrating noise (since month 2)...it recently has become louder and occurs more frequently so we called for service...the service guy felt that it just needed to be leveled...he did this and I am now crossing my fingers that will remedy the problem.

Pretty good product. Has performed up to expectations so far. Is a little noisier than the Kitchenaide that it replaced, but has a better ice cube service than Kitchenaide. Purchase of extended warranty is highly recommended.

I really like this refrigerator, but had to deduct one star because of the noise. You can definitely hear it when its running and defrosting. We're used to it now since we've had it a couple months. It has a lot of room, and the water dispenser is great. Well lit too!

Bought this fridge from BB October 2017, Delivered in November 2017. There is plenty of room in this refrigerator for a family of 4. Stainless finish is nice and door mounted controls and features work well. There is however one major flaw with the design. After only 6 months of use, the ice maker stopped working. Upon inspection of the fridge I noticed the wire harness that comes from under the fridge and through the freezer door had been rubbing up against the plastic cover every time the freezer door is opened and the plastic cut right through the sleeving and into the wire. One wire was cut. I called the repairman and left it up to him to find the issue. After he tested the electrical system and said it was fine, he determined it needed a new ice maker. I proceeded to tell him to check the wires underneath and after a little convincing, BINGO! He performed a temporary patch job until they receive an entire new door to be replaced. The photo is post patch job and the sleeving over the wire had to be removed in order to do the repair. If you own this fridge or are considering buying it, I would place some sort of protection between the wire harness sleeve and the plastic cover.

First off, it’s a giant fridge that takes everything we can pack into it. We went from a normal sized fridge and a separate freezer to just this one so it’s saving us space and electricity. It looks great and generally runs well EXCEPT for the issue about the ice maker which many people have complained about. It’s failed to work about once a month and all I do to fix it is to remove all the ice, rinse off and replace. The ice motor seems not strong enough to break the ice if it gets left there for long (and clumps together).

We bought this refrigerator to use as a second/alternate fridge in the basement, during our kitchen remodel. For a larger refrigerator, it doesn't seem to be very roomy, but it performs well. It does have a lot of space, but if this was our only refrigerator, I think it would be "overflowing" all the time with our stuff. We just use it for extra freezer space, bulk milk/eggs/vegetables, etc. and it seems to usually be "full". The water and ice maker work well and it seems to hold temperature good. There's a few "workmanship" issues in terms of how it was put together, things not straight or insulation seeping out of cracks (looks like the foam spray that expands to fill cracks), which I think should have probably been caught during quality control checks...but those don't affect performance.

Our refrigerator died so I needed a quick replacement. This one had good reviews so I quickly ordered it. I don't care for the spacing of the shelves. Yes, you can move the shelves around but there isn't much flexibility. A couple areas are only good for small things like eggs or yogurt. The craftmanship on this is poor, with insulation coming out of the doors. The ice is good, I like the size and consistency. Depending on how full it is, the temperate inside can fluctuate widely. I've had diet coke cans explode on the top shelf while the temp is set at 37. Heads up on filters, I couldn't find any generic ones so I am stuck paying $50 every 6 months for a new water filter. Overall, it's decent but I will look elsewhere the next time I need a fridge.

We have a family of 6 & cook a lot - we need a ton of fridge space. This fridge is huge! We also use loads of ice & this tiny ice maker keeps up with us! The only thing I don't care for, is that it scratches easily when magnets slide down and the doors aren't level. The leveling tool wasn't included, so I need to figure out where to get one.

At less than 5 years old, the ice maker stopped working on this $1800 refrigerator. After much work to troubleshoot the issue, we contacted an appliance repairman who was incredibly helpful and had me look one more place before he came out. He made us aware of a known design flaw with the wiring between the refrigerator and the freezer door. Sure enough, the sheathing was damaged and the wires had broken leaving a possible shock hazard (see photo). The only way to fix this is to spend $800+ for another freezer door! After speaking with Whirlpool customer service and escalating to a supervisor, the answer I got was essentially - "Sorry, there are no known issues and you are out of warranty, do you want 25% off a new refrigerator or do you want to spend even more money on a new door?" Are you kidding me??!?! I've had this refrigerator for two years and it continues to work flawlessly. I prefer a side by side and this had the largest capacity that we could find in a side by side. It does make a little noise once in a while, but it's not consistent or loud so it's not really noticeable to us. All in all it's a good value and the over-all quality is great. Even the icemaker and Ice crusher, which fails on a lot of similar refrigerators, has functioned flawlessly for the two years that we've owed it. It's big so make sure that you have the space. I would recommend this model.

This was not my first choice in refrigerators. It is like the older one we had. Space led us to this choice. I am now very happy with this purchase. I love the freezer side, drawers and shelving making thing's very easy to find. (Not stacked in a drawer ). I absolutely love the fingerprint resistant finish. It may not be for everyone (color a bit darker than normal stainless ). I have not seen one mark or fingerprint on it since it arrived. It is very quiet,( Ice and water feature ). A very happy accident.

Roomy, good space, glass shelves, good light all a plus. Need to come with butter and egg keepers in door. Crushed ice to noisy for amount of ice received.

We had our previous refrigerator for over 25yrs. and thought we should replace it before we come home to find it quit working and have to rush out and get one,not to mention spoiled food...our new whirlpool 28.4cu.ft side by side was delivered and set up from best buy with great customer service,very friendly crew,we would definitely recommend best buy to anyone! Lots of room in fridge and freezer. We got ice maker and water dispenser with filter,you can dispense water by the ounces or fill till you want...ice can be dispensed crushed or in cubes...lots of great features. Glad we got this one!
