My grandmother's Ice Box did so also. Tiny shelves can barely fit 10-12" pizza.bbut if you want another self you can order for abit over $200 including tax and shipping. Light bulbs in the $99 range. Produce drawer basically fills up with product needed for a salad for two people: lettuce, red onion, tomato, and. cucumber. Wine bottle has to be in door shelf. Shelves are shallow. Plastic light protector is same as model of 20 years ago: flimsy plastic, easy to jostle and hard to replace, easy to get brittle and over $90 to replace. And then the twice a year air and water filters cough up $100+ twice each year. It is definitely BIG on the outside but tiny on the inside. I do NO T recommend.

Concerned

The expected arrival date has been pushed back twice. Over 6 weeks waiting for something so necessary was not what I expected when ordering it in February. Now we’re expecting it in April. Does not instill confidence that we will even see it then. Concerned.

Refrigerator review

Local Best Buy Store Manager was instrumental in finally getting the product delivered. Refrigerator does not have much flexibility in shelf placement. Door bins look cheaply made. Ice maker is extremely loud.

Two Little Broken Wires

Shortly after the refrigerator was installed, the water dispenser stopped working, which required replacing the freezer door. After a long wait we finally received the replacement door. But when the door was unboxed, we discovered the door was damaged. A second replacement door was reordered and another long wait. After finally getting a good door, we discovered a water leak which required a service repair person to come out. We finally had a good working refrigerator. Three years later, the ice maker stopped working. Thinking that all that was required was to replace the ice maker unit which I ordered from Whirlpool at a cost of $150, and non-returnable. After installing the new ice maker, it failed to work. Same problem. At this time a repair service was scheduled. After a check of the freezer and the icemaker by the service technician, he quickly diagnosed the cause of the problem. The wires at the bottom of the freezer door had been severed from simply opening and closing the freezer door. We were then informed that the freezer door would have to be replaced to correct two little broken wires. The estimated cost was nearly $1,500 – almost the cost of a new refrigerator!!! The repair tech suggested we contact Whirlpool to ask them to replace the door at their expense and I would pay for the labor to have it installed since the wire failure was due to the design of the wiring harness. The next day, I contacted Whirlpool. Even though Whirlpool is aware of the design issue, they were totally unwilling to offer any assistance in replacing the freezer door. I requested to speak to management and got the same programmed response that the door was no longer covered under warranty. Had we purchased an extended warranty then it would be covered. We were also told that they could not make ANY exception because it was Corporate policy. My argument was that their design of the exposed wires being pulled each time the freezer door was opened caused the failure. This again fell on deaf ears. Now I was looking at a $1,500 expense to correct their design flaw of some simple broken wires. Whirlpool did, however, offer a 15% discount on a new refrigerator. They were basically telling me to throw away a 3 ½ year old refrigerator over two little broken wires! Why would I want to buy another Whirlpool refrigerator that is probably destined to experience the same failure. I am very disappointed that Whirlpool does not take responsibility for their poor design. My only choice, to avoid another major expense, is to try to repair the wires myself. I have nothing to lose.

do not recommend

The top shelf of the frig is only 3/4 useable since you need to keep everything away from the vents or else your food will freeze. The ice maker continually jams with ice making it impossible to close the ice bin. The bottom shelf of the freezer is almost entirely taken up by the light, rendering that shelf only 1/4 useable.

Don't waste your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This thing is not a high-quality appliance. While it looks nice mechanically it is a mess. Looks like shelves are missing and look at all the comments about the Fresh Flow issues. I have to laugh at the people calling this the Model T fridge. Even the repairman said the repair to fix the Fresh Flow will only last 6 months. This is a pass for anyone who wants to co-exist with their appliances in the same space. The next stop for our fridge is the garage!
