Resistance is Futile
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a lot of anxiety about moving to a High Efficiency washer. My giant, very old, White-Westinghouse machine went 20 years without a repair and then died. I enjoyed the simplicity and large capacity of the old machine. Like other reviewers said, it really helps to read the instructions and there are some dull but helpful videos on Youtube. Because there is no agitator post, the capacity on this machine is larger than my old machine, even though the overall washer is smaller. Consumer Reports had me worried because this machine was listed average for noise but this machine is actually quitter than my old machine. The vibrations are well contained, which is important in this small, non-slab/elevated foundation house where the washing machine is just off of the kitchen. Overall, this machine is quieter and less obtrusive than my old machine. I found it odd at first that the machine selects its own water level. However, after frequently stopping cycles and checking, I now have confidence that the clothes are indeed adequately soaked. Blankets and sheets have their own setting and are indeed completely submerged. There is also a deep water option. I also like the option for a second rinse cycle, though I rarely use it. I selected this machine because it was the only HE option that had non-digital controls. I prefer these knobs over digital controls. Also, it has a normal cycle time of 45 minutes. Most of the other machines were around 90 minutes. Getting a HE machine is a change but one you will get used to very quickly. The laundry seems well cleaned and well rinsed, and spun dry more thoroughly than a standard machine. Overall, I am completely happy with this washing machine, but if anything changes I will amend this review.

Bad experience with the company
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my review that I wrote on the company website. They refused to share it: "We had it for 5 months now. I need to state first: I tried talking to customer service once. The operator was fast. The technicians took for ever and I had to hang up after 30 min. That is bad! We were about to buy the older model, but with the rebate on star energy from our Electricity company we bought it and came back at the same price. All the thanks to this is to the sales associates at BESTBUY where we bough it. I guess there training is great where they never forget an info to tell you and make shopping in their place a great experience. One thing is that it make a weird noise when it's rinsing. I called the company and said it's normal so we didn't have to worry about it, but the sound is weird, like something is hardly moving. Another thing: we still couldn't figure out where to add the softener. Each time we have to stop it at rinsing phase, put it and close it again. That is bad and if you turn it on and go out or to sleep have fun adding the softener, IF there is truly no other way." Although I would recommend the product, i wouldn't recommend the company if they can't tolerate true reviews. The problem they didn't even offer an apology for note being able to speak with tech Dept.

Does a great job of cleaning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We replaced our washer of 18 years with this model and thus far have been very impressed with the level of cleaning. Definitely has a different sound as it is running through the wash cycle but that is normal with this type of washer.

What happened to quality?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The salesman recommended this one. I learned the hard way that I should thoroughly research washers myself next time. Or, maybe they all are of poor quality now. In the spin cycle, the clothes can easily become off-balance and cause the whole machine to rock violently and make horrible noises. You can't open it and rearrange the clothes because the lid is locked. Or, what if you need to leave and go to work or the store and this thing starts rocking out of control? First, I thought it was not level and this was causing the shaking problem. I called the installers to come back and level the machine. They came back about a week later and leveled it, but it still shook violently on the spin cycle. I talked to Pacific Sales in Best Buy and they said they would exchange it or return my money, but, I had to have it inspected by their technician. They scheduled a technician to come out another week or so later. The technician came out and he went back to the store and told them there is nothing "wrong" with the machine. They told me I had to call Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and they said they have no exchange or return policy and they need to send their own technician out. They scheduled a technician a few weeks later. The technician did not show up. I called them and they said there was no appointment scheduled. I then scheduled another appointment and, of course, this was a few weeks later. The Whirlpool technician came out and said there is nothing "wrong" with the machine. He did admit, however, that the quality of these machines does not match the quality of the machines made years ago. The tub is anchored at the top with four screws and has no anchor at the bottom. So, the clothes need to be distributed evenly and in even amounts. I decided that perhaps the best approach with these washers is to just spend as little money as possible and replace them every couple years when they break. Also, do your own research!

Great machine, great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was by far the best deal on a High Efficiency washer sold anywhere. The free delivery sealed the deal, however you must purchase the recommenced water supply hoses with your order, or the delivery people will not "Install" your machine. At $30, the price was fair, but my hoses were fairly new, so I had to do the hook-up myself.

Part 1 of a 2 part review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this has been a great purchase. I bought the floor model, so I hooked it all up myself. Really easy to get hooked up just follow the instructions. When using use the HE detergent and make sure to put it on the right setting. Don't put clothes on the wash plate, put clothes in like you are putting them in a old washer with the plate in the middle showing. Great price, not really noisy, and I read a lot of reviews before buying, so I've read that it is noisy. Didn't notice it really at all, the spin cycle is fast, but again not noisy, just make sure the washer is level and it shouldnt move. Overall great experience, I am going to wash a heavy down comforter next, so stay tuned. I didn't really see any reviews on how it performed with a heavy comforter.

Excellent Washing Machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit during the Black Friday sale week as a closeout model. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The high efficiency wash cycle is new to me as I had an older conventional washer. This unit does make different noises than a conventional washer, but if you read through all of the documents, it clearly explains it. It seems as if it takes a little longer to wash than a conventional washer, but the results are amazing; less soap and less fabric softener, but the load comes out much cleaner than my old Kenmore unit. You also need to now use a Downy Ball for fabric softener since this unit does not have a dispenser. Most people may think that this is the end of the world, but I can tell you that I already had the Downy Ball because my Kenmore washer's built in fabric softener dispenser broke years ago. ;)

Great HE machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 15 y/o Maytag broke a couple of weeks ago and I decided to look for something a little more efficient. This is a terrific mid-line HE washing machine. When the associate explained that I'd still have to add my own detergent I was a bit confused. I didn't realize I needed a dispenser for my detergent... and I was right! I read the reviews on this machine and after much consideration I decided to get it. The installation was incredibly easy. I watched it run its first load like it was a movie. I was waiting for the negative aspects a few have written about. I found none. I did a large load on medium soil with one rinse. It was faster than my old machine and whisper quiet in comparison. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The washer is the largest capacity that I can reach the bottom (I am 5"1'). It cleans quickly and thoroughly. The lid locks, but you can pause the wash to add more items. It is loud, but mine is in the garage. I clean cloth diapers and it works well since it has a soak setting and a thorough wash setting with 2 rinses. Fantastic washer - esp for the cost.

Cost effective - makes loud strange noises
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loud and makes a lot of very strange noises at start up - wish I had been advised about that before first use by delivery people. When machine goes off balance it takes too long for the latch to unlock to stop the imbalance. If you want to add item to washer when in "sensing" mode it starts the entire "sensing" feature over again. The cost is reasonable. Spin cycle takes a lot of the water out so clothes very dry when cycle finished.

Horrible Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I had read all the reviews. I would have saved time- do NOT buy this washer if you frequently add clothes or if you ever want to do a quick load. The shortest load took 50 minutes. If you want to add an item you have to wait 10 minutes for it to unlock. It supposedly uses less water- how do you know if you can't look into it? It is far louder than our Whirlpool that died after 25 years of heavy use. This machine is horrible, I'm going back to an old-fashioned machine that doesn't hold me hostage while waiting for the lid to unlock.
