This is the same exact filter that came in my Whirlpool refrigerator. I had no problem taking the old filter out and putting in the new filter. They claim they will last around 6 months before you have to change it out. I got 7 months out of the one that came with the refrigerator. When you put the new filter in the manufacturer recommends that you run a gallon or two of water out of the door water dispenser before drinking it.

I haven't used the filter yet because I purchased it as a spare, but the one I bought from Best Buy is identical to the filter sold by Whirlpool. I was able to get a much better price at Best Buy.
