It must be required!!!!! It is a problem to have to keep purchasing one, BUT if it purifies the water more, Hurrah!

Because I wanted pure, filtered water, I purchased a refrigerator with a water & ice dispenser. Not only am I pleased with my Whirlpool refrigerator, I am very pleased that these cartridges work so well and need only be replaced about twice a year .

Replacing water filter was quick and easy. Sales associate was very helpful assisting the finding the right replacement unit. Would recommend Best Buy if you are unclear of the right replacement unit.

It was time to change the water filter on the fridge. The water filter was so easy to install, it was 1,2, 3. take out the old slip in the new and carry on with your day.

This water filter was the correct replacement part for my whirlpool side by side refrigerator with the filter at the top right side. Just pulled up on the filter door, pulled out old filter, put new filter in and shut the door. Done. Easy Peasy!

It allows your fridge to have water for people like my wife who refuse to drink tap water. Works as intended

Very easy to install no issues. Just popped out the old filter and this easily fit in place. Just have to run a few gallons to flush properly before you start.
