    With counterfeit water filters on the rise it's a must to buy a manufacturer filter at a premium price. Add hard water to the mix, means a filter is a must-have for drinking water. The Whirlpool - EveryDrop 4 Ice and Water Filter is $50 and has to be replaced every 6 months - if you're lucky! High priced filters adds up to paying an additional cost of approximately 1/2 the value of the refrigerator itself, over the lifetime of the fridge. What a racket! Good filter, hence the 3 stars. Minus 2 stars for the cost.
