I purchased this after having a smaller BTU unit last summer and couldn't stand the thought of another summer in my studio apartment without sufficient AC. This unit works great - I haven't had to drain it once which is a drastic difference from my previous unit. The only complaints I have are if you order this to be delivered to you, prepare to have some UPS dents and dings on your unit. Also, this unit is a little loud. As far as cooling down my apartment - it does the job! I would definitely recommend getting this unit.

Works great, easy to assemble with the assistance of youtube videos. Quiet and has climate control to keep the room at a constant temperature. It does take up some space. Fantastic if it might be needed at different times in differrent rooms. Heavy but easier to manage without packaging.

For a portable AC, this product is amazing. I read most of the reviews before purchasing. It was fairly easy to install. The only difficulty was making it work with jalousie windows. It helps keep my bedroom cool and comfortable during these hot summer days. I usually don't set the temp below 70, and on average the summer days are in the 90s, and this system allows me to rest comfortably in my bedroom during the hot hours. I would reccomend this product to my friends and family.

Reviewing the Whynter ARC-14S, portable AC unit. Pros: It works well for the room size (~12'x15'x10'). Very powerful and cools effectively. Easy to wheel around. Intake and Exhaust hoses extend quite a bit, so you have a little flexibility in placing the unit. Maintained temperature well. Cons: It's pretty loud. The light from the control panel is very bright and you cannot turn it (the panel) off. It is a big unit, and very heavy if you need to lift it. Comments: It's a lot taller than I expected for some reason. The thing to remember is that it's a portable unit. By default, they're not as good as a window unit, ductless split, or other permanently installed unit. However, the advantage is that they're portable. You can move them around, use it just for those few hot days, or move it to where you may need some additional cooling. I got this to cool my bedroom at night so I can sleep more comfortably. My HOA doesn't allow window units, and I'd rather not run the central AC to cool the whole house when all I need it for is my bedroom at night. It's a bit large for the size of my room, however, the recommended room sizes tend to be optimistic. (e.g. a unit that says it's for 500 sq.ft. is not going to handle that much space except under optimum conditions). It's noticeably louder than the fan I was using in the window to try to keep the air moving. I can still sleep with it going on as it's more or less just white noise, but if you're a light sleeper, or sensitive to noise you can forget it. The blue light is actually more distracting to me. It's nearly bright enough to read by in a darkened room, and there's no way to turn it off. However, that is easily remedied by putting a couple of post-it notes over the panel. There is no way to muffle the noise however. The compressor is louder than the fan inside the unit, so the fan setting doesn't really matter while the compressor is running. The fan by itself is reasonably quiet in the lowest mode. The window kit that comes with the unit extends to a maximum of about 46". That was about 8" shorter than my vertical sliding window opening. The first night I filled the gap with a piece of cardboard, which worked OK. However, I was a little concerned about losing the cool air through the plastic/cardboard, so I purchased some rigid insulating foam board from the hardware store, and am using just the hose connection panel with the remaining gap filled by the foam. I would recommend at least using some foam insulating tape (not included) around the edges of the window kit for a better seal. Overall, I'm pleased with the unit. The two things I'd wish for would be for it to be quieter, and have some way of turning off the panel light. If you're not trying to use it in your bedroom, I would think that this would be excellent for spot-cooling any reasonably sized room.

The air conditioner works great, it is very cold and fairly quick to cool. However, it is just so noisy. I can't even leave it on at night time because every time it turns on it wakes me up. Installation was difficult as the slider bar that came with it did not fit my window requiring me to cut it to size. I had to go buy a hack-saw just to do this. Please note that this is a beast of a machine and you need two people to carry it.

A bit noisy, but it gets the job done. It won't fight the warmest days of your summer, but it sure makes them bearable. As confirmed by my previous research, a two hose portable A/C is the way to go.

I bought this to replace a discontinued model that lasted 9 years. I'm using this unit to cool a 2-car garage that's used as a work room. The rooms insulation is not great but this thing keeps the temp in the low to mid 70's with the outside temp in the 90's. Runs quiet and the remote is easy to use. I'm happy with it so far.

This A/C is awesome! Cools our bedroom very well and doesn’t rack up a ridiculous energy bill, so it’s quite efficient. I love the two hose design. Very happy with it.

I hate air conditioning, but sometimes it is necessary. I was looking for a machine that wouldn't have to be a permanent fixture on the window. Being a portable this is easy to de-instale and push out of the way when not needed. I an cooling a rather large area with high ceilings and it does the job nicely.

We have had this for one summer so far. It's a great AC and one of the few for 500 sq ft plus dual hose - very well priced. The remote is almost useless as you have to be directly in front of the unit for it to work and I wish the display was readable from over a foot away but those are minor complaints. I purchased BB warranty bc portable ACs tend to break but I hope I won't need it.

I have been using this unit to cool an area of around 650 Sq Ft and it works great. It is very simple to install. The noise is equivalent to a large stand up fan, not too bad. Overall a good buy.

Works surprisingly well at cooling given it is not in a window. Wish the hose connections on the back where stronger. The cheap plastic will break putting the vent hoses on off. Easy enough to operate. Comes with remote. If you have no other easy cooling options, I recommend this.

Great AC. Really keeps a large area cool. It’s a little loud - louder than our last but also more effective. It was also a little cumbersome to install. A large piece of plastic is included for the window vent. The instructions say it can be cut to your window frame. I don’t have a saw ...

A little bulky, heavy and loud but does the job as advertised. Cools well and eliminates the chore of emptying a water pan. Electric cost ran about $28 from mid July thru mid August running 24/7 in a 13' x 15' non-insulated lanai in 95 degree heat in Florida. Held temp at 75-80 degrees.

Works great. Cools my 200 sqft room down quickly. Dual hose is the only way to go, no negative pressure in the area you're trying to cool to pull in hot humid air. Easy assembly, just need a phillips head screwdriver and possibly something to cut a plastic panel for the window fitment, depending on how wide or tall your window is. And some painters tape to seal all the seams and cracks that might happen from the fitment not being perfect. Only had this a month but so far so good.

Because of new ownership, new rules was placed in my apartment building. I had a window unit, but ac slots were placed in the walls and my ac didn't fit. I decided to go for the portable ac unit. I've done a little research and comparing on portable air conditioners so I gave this ac a try. I purchased this online so I didn't have to move carry this unit, which is very heavy to move. You will need a dolly or hand truck to move so the free delivery was great! I have a very large living room, to my surprise it cools it very well. If a portable is needed for a large room this will do...

This unit is great. The air emitted is icy cold and it cools my room perfectly. The included exhaust hose was easy to attach and the window assembly was effective. The unit is louder than a fan but I am able to sleep without being disturbed. Most of all it cools the room easily (400 sq feet). I live in the desert and it is very hot 110f - 115f so far.

This Whynter 14,000 BTU does a great job for my 650 ft. Apartment. Noise lvl is not to bad for its size, but I will warn it's about 80lbs. You may want a friend to help you load it or move it into its new home. Enjoy a good night's sleep :)
