Old favorite
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I forgot about this movie. It was one of my favorites as a kid. A little odd as an adult but still, not bad.

Dated but kind of fun
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remembered really enjoying this long ago but with the advances in technology today it looks cheesy. Very good laughable moments throughout. The acting over-all was great!

A Campy Fantasy Adventure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had never seen Willow in its entirety until I picked up the blu-ray. Overall, I can see the appeal, and it is a nostalgic late 80s fantasy movie, but the story is fairly weak and doesn't hold up well in this day and age.

Good film for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great blu-ray transfer of an enjoyable 80's movie. My little kids liked it but I'm sure older kids may find it some what cheesy.

Cult classic for "Children of the 80's"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."Willow" is an epic film from Ron Howard and George Lucas that was supposed to be "the next big thing." Parents/children of the 1980s will remember that stores promoted Willow in a "Lord of the Rings"-type fashion by marketing clothing, toys, children's birthday party supplies, etc with Willow characters. Unfortunately, the movie didn't do nearly as well as people had hoped. HOWEVER, Willow has gained a cult following throughout the years as one of those childhood gems that many children of the 80's remember seeing often on cable television. Story is solid and entertaining. Movie includes a variety of fantasy elements, including magic, monsters, and great battle scenes. The movie itself MAY be a bit too much for younger children; however, each parent should use their own discretion as children are MUCH more aware of violence and possibly offensive material in this day and age. Overall though, this film is a fun romp that all family members can enjoy #you just may want to distract the little ones during a few of the battle scenes#. Enjoy!

Fun fantasy flick, great Blu-ray!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always had fond memories of this film from my childhood, but hadn't seen it in an age. The 25th Anniversary Blu-ray gave me to opportunity to revisit this childhood favorite. While never a truly great movie in the vein of Star Wars or Indiana Jones, it remains a fun and worthwhile fantasy film. Warwick Davis grounds the movie with his heartfelt performance as Willow. Val Kilmer is a roguish Han Solo/Indiana Jones type, only this time he's the greatest swordsman ever. The other characters are relatively forgettable and thin. The movie's highlight is some neat special effects that were state of the art 25 years ago. Still, it's a worthwhile movie and probably one of the better '80s fantasy films. The Blu-ray's freshly remastered video is probably the best the movie's ever looked. The disc's DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sounds very good as well. Moving onto the extras, the disc is a bit light. It mainly repurposes extras from the old DVD with newly recorded intros by Ron Howard, Warwick Davis, and legendary visual effects creator Dennis Muren. It's a shame they weren't interviewed for for a full-length making of documentary as they sat for the intros anyway. What we get are some vintage featurettes and behind the scenes footage. The only real new extra is about 12 minutes of deleted scenes which will be worth the purchase for fans. The Blu-ray also unfortunately drops a commentary by Warwick Davis trailers & TV spots, and photo galleries from the older DVD. This package also includes a new DVD copy of the film (without the old extras). In conclusion, a fun movie. The Blu-ray is well worth owning for fans of the film with great picture and audio. But hold onto your old DVD copies for the extras that weren't ported over.

The most underrated fantasy movies of all time!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this movie as a child growing up and still do as an adult. The characters and story are fun. The actors especially Val Kilmer did a great job, and the director (Ron Howard) delivered it all to the audience perfectly.

Fun time at the Movies.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw this in the theatre first run with a group of mid 20's. The group was split down the middle whether it was a good movie or just a popcorn movie -- fun but forgettable. Time has been very kind to it and some of the hype has fallen away so it can be judged on its own merit and not compared the director/producers previous works. With a bit of editing and excising the Comic Relief I suspect this could have been a great movie rather than just a good 80's movie. That said, some of the special effects sequences and battles hold up very well. Kilmer is typical over the top fun and Warwick with a role of a lifetime as the wannabe sorcerer and Protector. The bluray is pretty good and holds up well considering the source material that apparently were available. Sound is superb and will give you surround and sub a workout.

A True Family Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie should go into a Time Capsule! The storyline is amazing... The Acting is superb... The Direction is STELLAR!!! I love the baby's reaction to what going on around her. As far as Family movies goes, this movie is in the same league as The Wizard of Oz.... Watch it with children or watch it alone. It's AMAZING!!!

Much Better than Lord of The Rings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.'Willow' is a classic film in my opinion and sports so much that films of today, like 'Lord of the Rings', are lacking...emotion and feeling! It makes such a difference when a bond is felt between the audience and the onscreen characters. Willow did an excellent job of this and I still consider it one of the best fairy-tale films I've ever seen. Excellent special edition bonus features and a pristine anamorphic widescreen display make this film worth every bit of owning.
